Which Apple Watch will you be buying?

Thanks! I've seen the article before but hadn't paid close attention to the pictures.

My current watch has a round face that's 38mm across and it looks fine on my wrist.

I've got the curse of having slightly small wrists and big hands.

I'll try both on before making a final call.

The SS 38mm looks better IMO because it's more discreet.

I don't want the "Zack Morriss" effect on people with my watch. I know some people want to show off the watch, but that is exactly what I want to get away from.

If anything I want a watch that's less noticeable because I don't want people judging me on such a hyped up purchase.

I have seen so many variations in color with the Stainless Steel and the Black Stainless Steel band. Please tell me the model in this pic is wearing the Space Black SS. If so, this is what I freaking want. GORGEOUS

Nope.

Recent, color accurate pic of both link bracelet colors:

The referenced photo with the model is wearing the SS version, it's just oddly lit/processed or reflecting something dark. To be fair, it is hard to photograph shiny metal and retain accurate color.

----------

38mm Space Black SS + Link Bracelet, male, 167mm wrists, human, from earth :)

Though there's a small chance I'll change the size or color choice there, but, this choice has been what I've come back to repeatedly since the options were known.

(Oh and before anyone tries to save me from the "too small" size, look, pal, I follow classy watch sizing standards and wear a 36mm watch currently. So I'm good on this matter of opinion.)

Thank you for this! Ok, think I made up my mind, SS-Link for me. :)

Round is a more natural shape, nature wise, I don't think anyone can deny that. Square is a more artifial man made shape.

Perhaps this is why many like a round watch without really knowing why. It just feels and looks more natural.

When it comes to displaying man made data, most man made things are square, often for ease of manufacture, it's always easier to cut and to store square things than nice round things.

When it comes to things for the body, we tend to go for smooth round curves not hard square straight edges.

It's easier to cleanly fit more human text into a square area of course.

Human view wise, everything shoul be widescreen, even the watch, people have rubbished the round electronic watch idea, saying its only round because if the mechanics of hands and a watch face.

I can easily point out that a nice square is equally stupid as again it's only that shape, a square, also for mechanical watch hands to rotate around.

You would not often make a mechanical watch that is twice as wide as it is tall as that would not work with rotating watch hands.

But such a display would be far far better firm the human field of view.

Also for displaying text and photos etc ect.

Perhaps a 4:3 landscape display would be far more sensible and practical when leaving mechanical watch hands behind and moving to a screen based watch.

I am sad apple has played it so very safe and was frightened to actually set a new display standard that could of taken us forward for a new decade or more.

Now all your apps, text, photos etc etc are going to have to be hacked to fit this aspect ratio they are going to use.

Sign.

I'm going for the AW Sport 42mm with the Blue Band and then later on, i'll purchase a White Band & Milanese Loop separately. I see myself changing bands regularly.

Relieved by poll results!

I thought the cheapest iteration would be by far the most popular...

Looks like I will have a greater chance of getting my 38mm space grey sport on launch day than I thought! :)

Edit: as an aside- would any of the 51 purchasing the Edition be willing to post an unboxing at launch? I think one of the best kept secrets so far is what the premium aniline dyed leather badass case looks like. :)

Here's my stats:
-Stainless steel for sure.
-Sold on the black classic buckle.
-The midnight blue modern buckle will be a future purchase.

I'm still wavering on size. I feel like the 38 would look better on my wrist. However, the extra inches on the 42 might be easier on my "not so" fine motor skills.

Anybody else still weight size choices?

I changed my mind on the sport and am going for the 38mm stainless steel with black sport band. I'll order the Milanese loop later.

My first choice is the 42mm Stainless Steel with the black sport band along with AppleCare Plus. If I can't get that I will get the 42mm Stainless Steel with blue leather loop band along with AppleCare Plus as I want that as a secondary band anyway. Which ever one I get I will get the other band separately.

I won't be buying an Apple watch.
It comes out on my birthday.
I expect all of you to pitch in and give me one as a present.:D

The watch strikes me as a somewhat controversial move on Apple's part, neither good or bad. I do see certain advantages, yet that's more than offset by its many disadvantages based solely on my personal opinions, which may or may not be relative to others.

Because I do have a small degree of interest I'm going to take a wait and see approach over the next six months. Then armed with real feedback and experiences from those who do decide to take the risk now, gamble and buy it, then deal with its normal bugs, lags and other issues.

If it turns out that I would benefit, then I'll happily but the second generation, greatly improved model.

Im guessing this poll is a little skewed now that reviews are out. Maybe switch the SS and Sport around and it would be more accurate ;)

However, I am still going with the SS model. I've had my eye on the Milanese Loop since the September Keynote!

I was leaning towards the SS black band, but now I leaning towards the black aluminum. I thinking 2G version to pay more...

I collect Invicta Diving watches as well. I'm going with a Sport space gray primarily for gym use. I'm in there 6 days a week. And to wear it as a non dressy watch. The 42mm will be LIGHT work compared to my MONSTER 58mm Invicta Sea Monster!

Kinda wish Apple made a 45mm #.

So I'm the only one ordering one in 38mm? ;-)
I have a very tiny wrist! I have an original Pebble and love the watch but HATE the bulk. I'm getting the new Pebble Time too!

And the Apple Watch Sport, 38mm with the pink strap. The early pictures made it look more orange, I'd really love an orange strap, but pink is okay, at least I know my husband won't be wearing it! haha!

i'm using this primarily for fitness and want lightest possible. I don't look at this is as jewelry. I own nice watches for that. Am getting 38mm space grey sport. Though I fully believe this is a waste of money, something I do not need and something that will annoy the crap out me (notifications on my wrist. I get too many notifications as it is).

All that said, I feel compelled to order one for launch and if it really is bothersome will just return it.

I bought a Pebble for running with the RunKeeper app, it has been so nice to not have to pull my phone out to check on my stats! But I also found that I loved all of the notifications and other features of the watch so much, that I use it a lot!

Especially being a woman, my phone is usually in my purse and not attached to my waist, so I don't always hear it ring or vibrate, and I can just see on my watch if it's something worth pulling the phone out for or not. ;-)

Or just doing things around the house, the phone is on the kitchen counter, but my watch alerts me if it's ringing or I get texts/ emails. I know on the Pebble you can control what kind of alerts you get, I'm sure the Apple Watch will have the same options.

I love my Pebble, so I'm super duper excited about the Apple Watch!

Almost bought that same model invicta, but I couldn't see using anything other than my Citizen Aqualand. It records your dives, depth etc. Love that watch for beach days and occasional squba diving. As for the AW sport, I think it's is the best one to get right now out of all the others. I was originally going for the Space black SS, but I don't care to much for the link bracelet. And since Apple doesn't sell it like the regular SS. Where u have the option to choose the band u want, was a deal breaker for me.

So I discide on the 42 mm SG sport and 38 sport for my wife. The SG Sport is identical to the Space black SS, so that made my decision to get the SG Sport easier. Another reason for my change of mind. This is the first gen, and I think apple has room for improvement here. Standalone GPS etc.

Also after watching the apple event with my cousin who is a machinnist. Took me to school on the 7000 series aluminun. That apple heat treated with magnesium and zinc. Assured me that this type of aluminum with anodized finish. Would be tough as steal and very scratch resistant. So I will be preordering at 12 am, going to ask Siri to setting my alarm.#
