So, the SS Silver shows more scratches than the Black SS? I've been debating trading in my silver aluminum for a stainless steel, but I certainly don't want to deal with scratches. That would drive me crazy. Lol. I'm too much of a perfectionist. Ugh!
Scratches on the stainless case are micro scratches that easily polish out using Mother’s wheel polish and a micro fiber cloth or if you want to spend a little more the Cape Cod clothe. I wore my series 0 SS for 2.5 yrs and it was near perfect when I sold it and bought a series 3 SS. I also have a SBSS which is more resistant to micro scratches than the SS. I have always wore metal watches so the weight is not noticeable to me under any conditions. The only watch that I worried about scratches was with my aluminum Apple Watch.

I don't plan to buy anything I can't afford, don't worry. I sparingly use my money and hence the long time deciding. I do feel it will help me though (AW) get into better shape (not too bad, but better)..

Don't worry about financial advice from anyone (Its not even the point of the thread), it's your money and you know what you can or cannot afford as previously stated. The Apple Watch is a commodity and it's not going to retain value because it's a tech device that is superseded by a newer model each year. So whatever you decide to buy, just make sure that that's truly what you want from the device in terms of looks and capabilities.

No matter which model you choose with the aluminum or stainless, your ultimate goal as you said is to help you get into better shape. An Apple Watch Will help you do that. Both models are great in their own respects in
Materials. Also I suggest if you can, try on both Apple Watches in the stainless and aluminum, to find out what you like better.

I've worn both, but I've only run with the band. I'd imagine the loop is better for running because it felt the most lightweight out of any band I've ever tried and very comfortable. I only tried the loop for a couple days and don't actually own it, however.
I’ve run with both and enjoy both. I think the loop is my favorite. They’re both lightweight and breathe.

I went with the gold aluminium AW. It looks cool, is light on the wrist and goes with any outfit.

It’s also a good price so I won’t feel guilty losing hundreds of pounds if I change it every 3 years.

Stainless looks nice, but I’m not convinced it’s worth the premium just because it’s shiny. I know people say the added weight is better but as a watch collector who has many stainless watches I prefer a light smartwatch personally.

I have both SS and SBSS. I love both but, favor the SS more because, it goes with more bands. Good luck with your decision.

SS shows scratches almost instantly but the SS being scratched up is almost a patina and to me looks "normal". That said a small buffing cloth for SS will rub the scratches away and leave you with a mirror brand new finish and is something you could do every once in a while.

The Space Black SS has a special coating OVER the SS undersurface and is UNBELIEVABLY scratch resistant, its almost like a miracle. It does not show scratches, couldn't be more different that normal SS. That said Space Black has the least Apple matching band choices and is difficult to pair IMHO with 3rd party bands. If you plan on using sport bands, sports loops, or the very expensive black Milanese or link bands you would be fine.

Hello!
I've been trying to decide for quite a little bit on which Apple Watch to buy as I just can't decide between the more premium materials vs the huge jump in price.

Info About Me:
  • College Student
  • I workout and swim nearly everyday
  • I plan to start running (hoping the Watch gives me some "motivation")
  • Own iPhone X Space Grey
I'm not sure about the Stainless Steel model (Hermes or otherwise) as I'm not sure how nicely It would go with my iPhone X SG.. I know the SS has a wide array of bands available to it (without changing OG lugs).

I appreciate any feedback, have a great night/day peeps.

If I was you I would have got a series 2 sport cheap in the sales. But you don’t spending money as you have an iPhone X. I really really really really wouldn’t think of an Apple Watch to match my iPhones aesthetics!

What matters to one may not matter to others. Personal preference.

It wouldn’t occur to me to match my phone to anything. I’m not big on matching stuff in general but I guess I do sometimes switch watch straps if there’s a real clash.

I have enough bands where I can match them accordingly to whatever I'm wearing. But I certainly would not care about pairing any bands that would match my iPhone color.

Matching your AW with your iPhone is completely pointless IMO. You wouldn’t try this with a standard mechanical watch and nobody compares the two in unison.

I have a gold AW and a Space Grey iPhone and until now I’ve never considered them as partners in the fashion stakes? They share a digital connection but to me are mutually exclusive.

My watch and phone don't match currently, but at one point I had rose gold in each. I understand getting a little bit of aesthetic joy from that sort of thing. Whatever makes you happy.

Excellent points. Well said. I have series 2 sbss and believe next year, Apple will release significant /major changes in the Watch. I do not invest too much in the Watch this year while getting series 3 with the LTE feature, which I have been wanting. I got the Nike pure black platinum sport loop as I love the superb unique sporty Nike Watch faces and the pure dark black sport loop.

Your point to get less expensive model is right to the point, especially if a frequently upgrade is planned due to watch technology frequently changes.
