Which brand of RAM should I buy?

Guess I'll get the crucial 4 gb x 2 listed above from newegg.

But I was curious to see if there was any 8gb x 2 available for the new imac yet. I couldn't find any on the crucial website.
You won't find a 2*8GB option. The iMac doesn't support it.

iMac does support it However not everyone sells it due to it very expensive:

16GB PC10600 1333MHZ SO Kit (2 x 8GB) w/Lifetime Warranty
22 Days
$1,479.99
(for 27" i5/i7 only)
24GB PC10600 1333MHZ SO Kit (2 x 4.0GB + 2 x 8.0GB) w/Lifetime Warranty
22 Days
$1,579.99
(for 27" i5/i7 only)
32GB PC10600 1333MHZ SO Kit (4 x 8GB) w/Lifetime Warranty
22 Days
$2,879.99
(for 27" i5/i7 only)

Bought 2x 4GB from Crucial, but caused freezes on my iMac :(

Seems even the 'holy' Crucial dimms aren't mac-fail-proof.
Sent them back, waiting for replacement or refund.
I bought Crucial especially because of all the good comments I've read here, and then you get freezes :(

Do you have a link to where those are for sale?

EDIT: Think I found it. This one? http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2011/DDR3_21.5_27

another reputable source for Mac RAM is OWC.

Definately OWC is great or Crucial. But I've bought name brand ram off eBay and never had any problems with any brand I've tried even if it isn't listed as "mac compatible". Take that with a grain of salt YMMV though. :)

Well when I win the lottery, I'll let you know how the 2 x 8gig works.

Does the mac pro have more slots?

And why would the imac only have 4 slots? Seems silly to me.

The low end Mac Pro is 4 slots, the others are 8 slots for ram.

And as why does the iMac only have 4 slots? most pc motherboards have 4 ram slots there are some that still have only 2 slots. The base memory on the iMac (4GB) is fine for a lot of people. 8GB satisfies most of the rest for iMac users. So 4 slots (configurable to 16GB for a reasonable price) should be enough for almost any iMac user. If it's really not enough ram, you might need a Mac Pro anyway.

I just received my rams from Amazon yeasterday and both my iMac and Macbook Pro working like a charm. For my iMac I installed ( Crucial 8GB DDR3)
and ( Corsair 8GB DDR3 ) for my Macbook Pro 2011. Installation went like a breeze, took me around 7 mintues for both of them.
