I had that for the longest time. But then i started using beta and it stopped working. And its too slow....

I use safari, it's the only browser on here right now - I think i'm going to download camino now actually after reading all this.

Whenever I install firefox, my system really slows down. I can't minimize anything smoothly.. it all turns to chunks and goes really slow. When I uninstall firefox and restart, it all works fine. Very strange, but that's just how it is. I'll see if camino let's me work normally.

The only thing stopping me from using Camino all the time is the absence of spell check. Once they get that working I'm going to use it all the time :).

I will tell you this and its what I honestly believe on the PC platform Internet Explorer has the best and fastest rendering engine of any browser out there.
IE is fast, but it doesn't have the best rendering engine. In fact, it has the worst rendering engine out there. It's the least standards-compliant browser on the market right now.

Its fast???? Are you joking? Its the slowest I have ever used.

I have noticed that Internet Explorer is comparable to firerfox when you are on 3.4 GHZ system overclocked to 4.2 GHZ with 2 GB of ram then Internet Explorer is fast as firefox. However firefox is just as fast on a 1.5 GHZ machine......

Camino Camino Camino ... why ? because it feels right :D

Don't get me wrong i would love to use safari cuz it's apple product affter all ... but safari is just so dull no matter what you add to it .. lot's of websites don't open correctly (expecially with banks) ... there are no favicons ! ... the next/previous tab keyboard shortcut is stupid unlike in Camino ... there is no exception list for blocking popups !

Shiira

One big shout out for Shiira. This browser is beautiful... similar to what Camino was like before they slaped the brushed metal on it when it went beta. It is really quick too. And you cannot beat the drawer for managing bookmarks, downloads, RSS... etc.

Firefox for me. Mainly because I absolutely adore Firefox's huge library of extensions. Additionally, I'm a multi-platform user. I'm constantly going back and forth from my macs to my pcs (home and work). Firefox is a consistent browser platform where all of my wanted functionality is the same across the board. I like safari for what it does, but there isn't a version of Safari for PCs (for obvious reasons). Also, now that there's a beta version of firefox (aka Deerpark) for my intel MacBook Pro, life is good for me. :)

my vote is for firefox. for me it is quick and the bookmarks are easily organized. i use safari every once in a while if a page doesn't display properly or I want to use alt+tab to switch to a different page instead of switching windows in the same browser.

After viewing this thread I tried Camino on my 1.8ghz G4 AGP.

Wow, it is noticebly faster than Safari. I'd say its almost at IE for Windows level of speed.

Thanks to this thread...

there is no way that safari is faster than camino or firefox. i have every browser there is and move in between them periodically to find the perfect one. i always come back to camino and firefox. btw, if you safari guys dont like the way firefox looks then why not make it look like mine does? i think this looks pretty darn sleek.

Because that looks butt-ugly and reminds me of Windows with that blue titlebar.

re

Camino for me... best looking by far, and arguably the quickest. Also uses up to half the RAM Safari does on my system (Safari max = 250, Camino 125 MB).

Not a big fan of the grayness in iTunes, Safari etc. Much prefer the Camino/Mail look.

It's not in beta anymore and has a plastic look, not brushed metal at all.

I agree. I hate Mozilla-based products (no rational explanation) and I like the browser to be integrated well with the rest of the system. I only have Explorer installed on my Dell.

That's like the cause of 80% of windows problems. If IE gets screwed up, chances are windows explorer is messed up as well and you have to reinstall the OS. Not very smart.

Well madjew IS a huge windows fans... as you can tell from his tar. ;)

True, but I make up for some of the lack of smartiness by not using a Windows machine as my primary computer. :p

Heb1228 makes a good point.
