Mazda 3 is a pretty nice car. I almost got the 5 door back in 04. It came down to Mazda 3 and a Sentra SE-R Spec V. The Sentra won out on the fun factor.
If I had it to do over I would of gone with the Mazda just it lacks the power the Sentra has.

You're in a minority of one on this according to all the car mag's I've read.
And no, I won't include the opinion of any Subaru's R Sexy Monthly enthusiast magazines O.K. 300lbs heavier... and it's still rattled Subaru enough to require them to bump up the WRX by another 40 odd hp.
That's what happens when you have a chassis inferiority complex.
Some general comments:
Just some things to consider.
- The best car in the world, is a paid for car.
- Cars that are 1-2 years old are much better values than a new car.
- Low maintenance and upkeep can save a lot over time.
- Consider insurance costs. The differences between models can be quite dramatic.
- Economy is important. Especially these days.
- Get something that is low on the theft list.
- Shop and parts availability are important.

That's highly subjective. I love the new CL, it's my dream car. Although I'm totally happy with my E-class. Again I'm rather biased because I'm a big fan of MB. The R-Class, C-Coupe, new SL are UGLY though.

Well, I commend you for finding a source that thinks the Subaru's better looking.
But how does the old adage about 'taste' go?
I have to admit that I originally hadn't realised that Subaru had tweaked the 2009 WRX, that said, according to the article, considering it's power-weight advantage, it's not substantially more rapid than the Ralliart, it's interesting that Subaru have felt the need to respond with such a thorough set of changes, that decision is telling, and I'd argue substantiates... "That's what happens when you have a chassis inferiority complex.".
Mitsubishi missed a trick by not keeping the Evo's track, but I do not doubt they'll respond for the 2010 model year with more power, but like the WRX, it begs the question, what's the point when they're encroaching into the Evo and STi playground?
Though of course, if the 2009 WRX wins this battle, how come Subaru keeps getting it so wrong with the STi's?
Not to put down folks who's familys have tons of money, but thats still like two times too much.

one of my parents has a 2008 subaru outback 2.5i limited ll bean edition (it's out of your price range, but it's still the same car) and i love to drive it. granted you're right, the outside is a little girlie, but the inside is pretty sweet. with the nav and wood trim, once you're inside you forget about the outside.
i'm not saying the outside is a bad design at all, it's just not that manly. i am a guy and i like to drive the outback, so what? go for it!
