(Hmm Im 60 miles north of you)

Its true verizon is limited to a small portion of the world, but a huge part of the US. My local tower here in the great garden state delivers 55+ downstream LTE, and up to 2to3 3g. Certainly acceptable. I travel to the boondocks and i agree that like Att data is always a hit or miss proposition.

As i said pick your poision.
And realistically a Verizon iPhone 5S/5C and even 5 will work just fine in the rest of the world if not even better than some other GSM counterparts (for example in the case of the 5).

Which carriers are the best/most greedy ?

I'm not on Verizon or ATT's side. Neither are companies I'd defend and like you said pick your poison.

The absolute fastest 3G you'll see on Verizon is 3.1mbs I believe and that's in a lab. Real world 2.5 mbs. While I find that acceptable I find that extremely rare. That's why I was surprised to see 2 mbs in Atlantic City (fun town btw nice place to visit wouldn't want to live there).

I'm just north of Baltimore now. This is my typical speed.

Mileage will vary obviously but IMO an LTE device is a requirement on Verizon's network.

Due to my (pre-iphone) business I needed a laptop, tablet without flash wouldn't do, and as such I, paid for VZWs mobile broadband connect. Except trying to download files that were gigabytes in size it served me quite well.

In todays' world of full HD and 5.1 sound it may not be adequate but for most business purposes, it actually works.

Now that Sprint is firing up the LTE in my are I might switch back to them and get locked in with unlimited data. I'd have to sell my iPad Air that is on Verizon though.

They are all super greedy, they just take turns being the super greediest.

Which carrier has the best service iin NYC these days.

In NYC from what I've heard you're good with everyone except Sprint.

For the OP Verizon is the best quality and also the most greedy. But when you put in the work like they have on their network, you can charge a hefty premium for service.

Im in nyc with att and verizon phones
Verizon has the best voice and indoor coverage. Otherwise they are the same

I have had all 4. Currently use ATT and Verizon.

Maybe 3 years ago I would say Verizon hands down has better overall coverage (I travel extensively). But I believe ATT has just about caught up with Verizon.

People gotta remember Verizon built it reputation by having a 3-4 year head start on 3G CDMA voice and data over ATT/Cingular EDGE than it's wcdma 3G network back in the early 2000s.

Since I carry both I can literally compare coverage simultaneously. The coverage is about the same for me these days.

Verizon's plans now significantly more expensive for mobile share/share everything.

But the old Verizon and ATT plans are comparable. Not much difference.
