Which colour smartcover you bought please.. Poll

Which colour smartcover have you chose...

I like the look of the red, but obviously here in UK, I havent seen it "in the flesh" yet. But also reading the comments, not sure how a black iPad 2 will go with a red cover.

But also I think I will buy one straight away, I dont think I'll go for a leather one, as will be sooo expensive in UK, and Ive read around net that some of the colour pigment from leather ones are coming off on the screen?

My choice of protection, on this, my 1st ever iPad, will be smart cover, BestSkinEver on back, and a sleeve when out and about, or finished using it (along with the smartcover)

I have a red leather cover on a black ipad and think it looks awesome... I put a gelaskin on the back. I'll take some pics later this evening if you'd like!

The red leather hasn't left any color on my ipad that I have seen. The only thing is that it does scratch easily. However, I think that it'll look fabulous once it gets really beat up.
 
The real question should be "What would you get if they had Black in Vinyl".

It really stinks that black is only in leather because everyone I knows wants black but doesn't want to pay $80 just for the color choice.

Imagine having to pay UK prices then!! works out at $95!!

I'm wondering if I sould go for the leather or not now though? adis regarding price, are they much better than the poly ones? I'm a little worried on the fact that they will degrade as Apple says after a while, colour wise.

I'm thinking of a nice bright red, or does it look daft?

90 days from now there will be 100 black smartcovers from everyone.....the cover design is not patented
 
Im loving the smart cover but what gets me is the horrible color selection. The vinyl are all very very bright, but not in a good way.

I started with vinyls since its more affordable but the colors are way too bright an trying to be "fun" but they seem more like the original iMac flavors and dont really match the style of a futuristic device like the iPad. I started with Pink but oddly its not a shade of pink that matches anything humans would wear. So I went to Gray and even that is too light to be a nice match with the aluminum casing.

Then I decided to go for Leather but tan is a bit too orange and unprofessional and what looked dark gray on the website is actually blue but just doesnt go with a black iPad.

In the end then out of all the colors (IMO) I'd say Black and Red leather are the only ones that look sharp and the rest lack the class you'd expect from Apple.
 
I just feel that if you have a black ipad you are kinda out of luck with the cheaper covers. I mean, orange, green, and blue go pretty well with white but really none of the cheap ones go well with black.

So, I still haven't bought one. Not sure if I will.
 
I was going to buy a leather one until I saw the post where the guy had the color rub off on his iPad. And for $69 bucks, I was like, no way. Also, Apple even admits on the smart cover website that the leather ones color runs. That scares me the most.

So I wound up getting the gray one. It looked the most neutral. I might have got the blue one if they had it in stock, but all I saw was green, gray and an open box orange. I was just so excited to get an iPad 2 I didn't spend much time looking at the covers. I doubt I'll get another. I have to see the leather ones in person.
 
To be honest, at this point I'd say pick up the grey from someplace with a long return period like Target or Walmart and see what the aftermarket does in a month or two.

A black poly smartcover would be perfect. I've seen the leather one, but $70 is awfully steep
 
Here's something weird. Apparently Best Buy will no longer carry Smart Covers other than Pink and Gray?

Last week I was hunting in Vegas for a black smart cover but the two best buys I went to had none in stock and said none were on order. The other day I checked to buy online and you can no longer order one shipped and the Ship to Store said product is unavailable. I found one black one on the store inventory map so I drove across town and picked up the last one and it was $49. I asked them to check when they get more and they said the system doesnt have any for order on any colors but pink and gray.

I guess it makes sense because stocking multiple colors is annoying and doesnt give Best Buy any real sales advantage so sticking with Gray and Pink probably covers the average consumer range. But still, I want tan and I prefer buying from Best Buy because Apple store has such a short return policy.
 
Originally purchased the blue poly smart cover and a stylus for note taking. However, I got sick of the blue getting dirty so easily and how it looked in general. The color just didn't fit with the rest of the black iPad.

Exchanged the smart cover and stylus to buy the black leather one.

Black is, IMO, the only proper choice. Regardless of price. :apple:

So a lot of UK users now have. iPad 2 (but not me yet :( ) what colour have you chose please?

I was going to get a leather, but read about the rubbing and staining. I was going to buy mine in readiness for eventually when my iPad 2 arrives (ordered online at Apple, very very dispaointed with the way they've handled online orders)

Anyway please update the poll so we can see

Well I can now vote on my own poll, I've got my White iPad :)

Ok there wasn't a full choice but I chose the grey (although looks silvery to me) for mine, although I may get red leather in future to
