You nailed it man! Most other companies IF they had a new innovation or feature, milked the cow in the slowest speed till the last drop. How long didn't we have to put up with the minor adjustments from Nokia. More then 10 year marketleader, not to mention the other brands.
 
Smartphones will follow the same direction as personal computers which are a commodity business. Apple only wants to compete in the high end so is destined to be niche.

I'd say its pretty obvious its google now that they own motorola.

But isn't is therefor the more strange a niche company dominates the entire sector. It's just waiting, if they ever will consider it, on Apple to take the step to leave the nichemarket and jump into home-electronics or broaden their range of Web-related products. Then even Google probably won't stand a chance.
