I just bought the newest generation Mac Mini from Amazon for my dad. He still has a working Samsung VGA monitor.

How do I get this monitor to work with the Mac? There is a HDMI to DVI adaptor included. Should I just buy a DVI to VGA adaptor? Will adding this extra adaptor cause any interference/loss of video quality?

I'm assuming there is no Thunderbolt --> VGA adaptor. And I can't find any HDMI --> VGA adaptors on monoprice.

    Will appreciate any help!

    Thanks.

I have a 6 footer and a 10 footer.. One is from a mini to a sharp tv with a vga pc input the other is to a monitor with vga or dvi inputs

All the other ideas from the other posters work, but this is the only 1 part solution.

Yes. This is not an insignificant limitation. Blame the movie studios but he'll be unable to play any purchased HD movies/TV shows on an analog VGA monitor.

For all other purposes (and non-HD movies), the old monitor should be fine.
