Following on Antennagate and Bendgate, which "gate" do you think is being cooked up to attempt to disrupt the launch of this year's iPhone?

Pitches have already been made for Speakergate and Donglegate.

What's your prediction for this year's "gate"?

Watergate. Apple makes the next iPhone waterproof but some idiot finds a way to bypass the water protection under extreme conditions and attempts to kick up a huge fuss by alluding to some failure on Apple's part.

Probably why Apple is taking its own time to get waterproofing right.

Stall-gate

Out of ideas, Apple refreshes their product line with remixes of previous versions (minus a few features). Stall-gate will sneak up on many who always buy the latest version, only to realize they just downgraded.

When pressed for an answer, Tim will say "We have many exciting innovations and features in the pipeline, we're just waiting for someone to figure out how to implement them with old technology."

8-gate. Millions of iPhones sold because people thought there was an iPhone 8 out this year.

Unless Apple have a big surprise up their sleeve: Yawngate.

The mildly annoying removal of the 3.5mm jack gets blown up into a humanitarian disaster of apocalyptic proportions because its the only interesting thing to say about the new iPhone.

Then, next year, "Lightninggate" when Apple bows to the inevitable and switches all the iDevices to USB-C after loads of people have bought Lightning headphones & audio adapters to replace 3.5mm stuff.

Space Black-gate.

"The Apple marketing material makes it look darker than it really is!"

Apple: We gave you black back, stop your whining and buy!

With the amount of people moaning on this site, about the iPhone 7 not having a headphone jack, I would say headphone gate or no-Jack gate.

Probably just the usual "gatethrradgate" given where such threads over the years pretty much always go:

It's going to be chipping again of the colorways that are dark. I'm sure someone will make a big deal about nothing, seems to happen every time a new iPhone is released.

You do realize you could have your texting finger chopped off, for bringing this topic up.

Wouldn't that be "jack off gate"

It may very well be for those that are complaining about the lack of a headphone jack :D

I get a warning and my post gets deleted for posting a pic of Christina Applegate? Haha! Millenial ignorance. SMH. Like I care getting banned again for a few days like what happened to my Star Wars posts and a couple weeks ago. I lose my IQ each time I read plenty of ignorance on here since most people lack any knowledge for any history...

Ok, Water-gate. Too young to get the Nixon reference? The new iPhone isn't really waterproof and ruins the external sound coming from the lone audio speaker. Or will this post get deleted again for making a reference to the early 1970's?

Let's instigate and investigate this new gate.

I want a re-run of chipgate :D . My favourite gate so far. I miss all the Samsung chip owners in denial about their inferior chip's.

S7 edge damaged speaker

S7 not quite waterproof

iPhone 7's Water-gate

iPhone users make a hissyfit that their new iPhone 7 has a terrible speaker once it is submerged underwater. No time to wait for it to dry up. Water-resistant (it isn't waterproof) is a new concept to iPhone users. Barely catching up to Xperia Z users from 3.5 years ago.

Besides, don't some iPhone users find a way to instigate finding a new problem out of OCD boredom? I'm not joking like I was with Applegate earlier. Water-resistance and waterproof is two different meanings. The internal components may get affected over time.

Give it another month or so, and you will see iPhone 7 water-gate threads just like what you saw with the S7 edge users. This isn't some silly, "Milhous" pun. Water-resistance is an extra line of defense for accidents. Not something you plan on taking a bath with every day.

Yeah. The mods on here seem to have had a sense of humour bypass operation. Especially where British humour is concerned. The US has a long way to go to match our freedom of speech ethic.

I don't think it counts as a "gate" if it's and intentionally feature, or lack there of.
So you are assuming antenna gate wasn't intentional. You holding it wrong.

So what was the warning about Christina? I know it's against the rules to say why, but since you don't care about being banned, what the HEK, I always say.
