Late 2006 24" 2.16 C2D. Very happy it has lasted so long. Waiting for new MacMini to upgrade. iPad used mostly now - desktop only for the serious stuff.
Also have a .233 Bondi Blue iMac

Should extend the list - you may be surprised how many older iMacs are in regular use.

Baseline late model 2013.

The best computer I have ever owned.

I will double the ram just because I can.

Late 2013 27" It was a BTO with,i7 3.5, 32GB ram, 780M graphics, and fusion drive.

Nice build :) I have the high end 21.5-Inch iMac (with no build to order add on's). At the time of me getting my iMac, John Lewis has an offer on where anyone buying a new iMac or MacBook got a 3 year warranty. So I was not able to do a build to order from Apple. I am glad I never as well, I feel my iMac is scarily powerful as it is and anything more would be super overkill.

How much video memory comes with that graphics card? And is it GDDR3 or GDDR5?

Apple only uses GDDR5 VRAM.

Oh and because the GT750M used in the iMac is GDDR5, it actually outperforms the GTX660M (source: notebookcheck). The GTX660M is a pretty decent card by itself already.

Late 2012 27" BTO. It's the base model with a fusion drive and 16 gb ram. I bought it because it was the best that I could afford at the time. It's a homework/semi-pro photo rig.

Late 2013 27-inch iMac. 3.5 i7, 780m, 1tb fusion, 16gb ram. Very amazing computer makes my photo and video go so smoothly and quick I have more time to be creative.

My first iMac was a 21.5 inch Mid 2010 entry level. Was very satisfied with its service until I have to move from one country to another. My recent one, the late 27 inch BTO is great. I love the bigger screen, more space for editing and designing and colors are good. I opted for the 256SSD, hoping to get at least 3 years of speedy usage from this machine.

I got the entry level Late 2012 27 inch iMac with 1TB Fusion drive. This is my first Mac and I couldn't be happier with the switch to Mac and also the iMac :)

iMac Late 2012,
2.9GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5,
1TB Fusion Drive,
NVIDIAGeFrc GTX660M 512M GDDR5,
24GB ram

If you could add these to the poll, thanks :)

I was kind of hopping for a shorter list, as its somewhat cumbersome adding that many, and it may make the poll that much more awkwardly large.

It's ok :) Just leave the poll then, might be best to keep it just to iMacs that can run Mavericks.

Mid-Late 2010 27" Base Model - upgraded it to SSD in late 2012.

Will be upgrading the machine on this years refresh at some point - I hope it includes the Broadwell chip, or i'd have to wait till 2015.

mine is the Late 09' BTO iMac 27" (2.8 i7 + 8GB + 1TB).

still runs and functions without any issues even after the HD recall.

i'm tempted to upgrade to the newer version of the iMac, but in all honesty, I don't feel that I have the need to. I can always upgrade the RAM and add an SSD when it needs a modest speed bump. very happy with what I have now. :D

Looks like more 2012-2013 27" BTO than all others combined -- results are quite suspect! The poll, like the MacRumors site, is skewed toward high-end users that upgrade frequently. I feel out of place with the last three iMacs I've bought (all still in use) being 4 to 5.5 years old (1 BTO, 1 high end, 1 entry).

I totally agree with you. I fell the same.

My iMac (high end 21.5" Late 2013, quad core 2.9-3.6Ghz i5, 8Gb of RAM, NVidia GeForce GT 750m (1Gb GDDR5 VRAM) feels like overkill for me.

While it may not be the king dick in this pissing contest, my base 2011 iMac has been superb for me. No problems and has done everything I have ever asked it too.

iMac Mid 2011 21.5-Inch Entry Level

I use it for school (writing papers, excel, et.c.), photo storage and editing, a bit of google sketchup, and the usual stuff - email, browsing, music, movies, et.c.

It's a solid computer which works well. While working with SketchUp I could do with a bit more ram than the standard 4GB but I can't be bothered upgrading. I usually buy the standard configs and replace the entire computer a few years down the road. I plan on keeping this iMac for a while longer, most likely until I move out to my own place. :)

Interesting insight into the mentality of Mac owners.

The late 2012 iMac was out for a year before being replaced by the late 2013 iMac. Whereas the late 2013 iMac has only been out for a few months.

Therefore, you would logically expect (and I am 100% certain this is true) that there are more late 2012 iMacs out there than late 2013's. The sales of 2013 iMacs in a few months cannot possibly have outstripped an entire years sales of 2012 iMacs.

So, then, isn't it odd to see 19 people voting for 2013 i7 BTO's and only 9 people voting for 2012 i7 BTO's.

I can only conclude that there is a honeymoon period of new ownership where people are interested in their new toy and visit forums like this. Whereas once you have had the machine for a while and the novelty has worn off, you don't come around so often.

Totally agree with you on the RAM buying. You should be good for another 5 years :)

I would wait for more votes though. Plus, people who just bought an iMac will be looking throughout the forums more than someone who has had their's for a year.

I wanted a MAC for years - rest of the family had MBP's I had a homemade PC.

My first Mac was the SE

Well when I got my MAC the 21 inch didn't have a good video card or upgradeable ram. So I went the 27 inch route.
