Great to hear. Do you see it getting the next OSX update? What OS are you running right now?
I'm running mavericks. It's old, and it's probably not as fast as a new one, but it still runs great.
Could you post the full spec? Just want to see the hardware to see what it takes for the 8 year old machine to run up to date software.
Im using a 2007 iMac as my main computer as well. Premium machine and the only thing thats gone in that time is the hard drive, so obviously it now has an SSD in there and is blazing fast. Very recently I managed to get my hands on a cheap 4GB DDR2 667Mhz memory chip, which is the final upgrade it could have.

I had the same model. Beautiful it was. It finally succumbed to the overheating / solder fracture / artefacts problem in mid 2012. Spent about thirty seconds looking at the then-current 21.5" and 27" iMacs before deciding they were too small/large; they were unattractive; and that I couldn't live with the glass.Late 2006 24" 2.16 C2D. Very happy it has lasted so long. Waiting for new MacMini to upgrade.
Entry level 2011 21.5"
I'd rather spend 1K and get my next one in 5 years than spend 2K and get the next one 10 years lol
I should say that I've bumped it up to 12GB RAM and a DIY Fusion Drive (250GB Evo + 3TB WD Black)
The newest addition I just ordered is the 27" i7, GTX 780M, 256GB Flash, VESA, 16GB 1866 Corsair Vengeance RAM, delivery date is between April 2-4th.
The only thing I've changed was, after doing some reading it seemed like the iMacs were fine with UP TO 16GB of 1.5v RAM.I'm strongly considering getting the exact same system.
Mine wasn't listed......
a 2006 24" 6,1 iMac...... Intel Core Duo @ 2.33GHz
upgraded memory card, 320GB HDD, 4GB RAM
Got it from a friend's video production company at a steal price.
I use it for music recording & production, and video work (capturing videotape, converting movies to DVD and Blu-Ray.)
I LOVE it! My PC just crashed left & right and was frustratingly unsatisfactory, this older iMac blows it out of the water!
