First iPhone was 3G. Then I got the 4 and 4s. I went android due to tiny screens and got galaxy s3 -s4 -s5. Now I'm enjoying my 6 plus and will probably wait till 7s or 8.

iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4s; I'm going to buy the 6s as soon as possibile. I still use and like my 4-years old 4s but iOS 8 made it way too much slow

Just the 5S as before I was that stupid stobborn guy that was convinced Android for those who "really knew what they were doing", those were a rough 2 years. Will be getting the 6S on release and hopefully now I can afford it; every one after.

Which Android phone(s) were you using? To be fair, iOS didn't really achieve parity with Android on some key features until iOS 7 (which debuted with 5S/5C).

3Gs, 4, 5, 6.

In not going anywhere. We'll see how things go with AT&T, as to how and where I get my phone and service. I've been with AT&T for almost ten years now, and I really like my mobile set up.

I bought a used 3G, then after awhile upgraded to a 4S. That one got water damaged and I couldn't afford a brand new phone then so I went with what I could afford and downgraded to a 4. When that one died I switched to android for about a year until I got a 6+ a few weeks ago.

do you upgrade every year or every 2 years when your contract allows or wait till your current phone dies etc
I typically keep them until they start to die. I've usually been buying used ones though so those don't last as long. I'm hoping to get 2-3 years out of my 6+ as I actually bought it new. Maybe I'll upgrade to the 7S.

iPhone (original)
iPhone 3G
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPhone 5
iPhone 5S
iPhone 6 Plus

All of them if you allow for 6 or 6 Plus.

I inherited a used 3GS in 2012, then was given a dead 4 by a friend in 2013 and got that replaced by Apple. I sold that to my brother in April 2014 and bought a used 5 which I use now, alongside my 3GS which is used for music. I'll keep the 5 until it no longer runs the latest version of iOS.

I've only had the 5S and the 6 (4.7"). I only got the 6 since I was switching from Verizon to Sprint. But, I plan to wait out the contract before I upgrade; so, I'll likely be getting the 7 next year, and even then I might try the Plus variation.

Original: Had it for 1.5 years, sold it due to slowness
3GS: had it for 2 years, sold due to plastic back cracked, i hate plastic
4S: still have it since launch ~ 4 years, keeping it as music player, although a little bit too thick and heavy, and it runs slow on iOS 7, but i love the design
5S: still have it since launch ~ 2 years, using it as daily driver, it is the perfect phone for me, light weight, thin, fast and compact.
6S*: i'm not really a fan of big phones, but who knows, i might buy this one just for S's sake

I had the HTC Sensation, flagship phone of the time although after less than a year it wasn't even listed on the website. Honestly, I'm not even fanboying, I loved it for the first few months but it quickly got slow and buggy and then it started turning off at random times, had it replaced and the new one did the same after a month or two.

I'm sure some people love using android and I know of a couple of people who still do, primarily on Samsung phones but those who I've managed to sway to iPhone have thanked me and said they won't look back, much like myself.

Yeah, I'm not looking back either. I feel like Android's "line on the graph" was falling, and iOS's line was rising... and they crossed right around the time that you and I made the switch to iOS. (Sorry you had a bad experience w/HTC; I've never had a good impression of the quality of their phones.)

I had an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 5, both for just over two years. Both needed repairs 3 or 4 times in those 2 years (battery, buttons, screen), even though I take good care of my possessions.

I am extremely disappointed by the iPhone's durability and longevity. A €600/700 should not be this flimsy and should not basically be a disposable device. That's why I replaced my iPhone 5 with a Samsung Galaxy Trend 2 Lite last week. I don't mind spending a lot of money on an expensive phone, but I no longer believe an iPhone deserves my money. My new Android phone is one of the most basic smartphones on the market. It was a bit more complicated to sync everything with iCloud, but I managed it for my contacts and calendar, and those or my main uses for my phone anyway. If this phone turns out to be a disposable device, too, at least I won't have lost that much money.
