Is there a speed difference?
If you take iphone a apple watch with you, does siri work faster for example on the LTE Watch than without lte, as it has the get the data from the iphone?

Purchased the stainless regardless of the Cellular option. If I want to activate at a later date, the option is there, but I’m not interested in paying another $13–$15 a month to my carrier. I mentioned it before, Apple and the carriers really _need_to incentivize more solutions to the consumer that has a set rate plan, where it will be enticing to *want* the Cellular option.

Antidotal evidence only , but I’ve noticed that most who got LTE for Series 3 (like myself) were so underwhelmed with reception and the very occasional use for the extra cost that they downgraded to GPS for Series 4. Those who have upgraded from series 0 - 2 to 4 have been allured by LTE.
Personally I don’t think it does what it says on the tin. It doesn’t free you from your phone 100% and therefore not worth the extra cost to me

Not sure which is more popular, but after some deliberation, I chose the non-cellular S3.

After using it for a year, I have no regrets going with the non-cellular, as I always have my phone with me when I'm out and about.

I suppose if I was still into running, and didn't want to use the armband thingy that's buried somewhere in a drawer, I'd prefer the cellular. If I felt that calls would be important to make or receive when I'm running.

My preference is to have the phone with me at all times, for making and taking calls, returning texts, and a bunch of other uses.

Several times I've answered the phone from my watch, when the phone was in a different room of the house, and it's a neat feature. More frequently I like being able to refuse calls from numbers I don't recognize without having to take the phone out of my pocket. Happens more often these days, it seems. And, since my phone is nearby or in my pocket, I don't need cellular to do those things.

I look at the Watch as an iPhone extension - not strictly a watch, and not a standalone device. My S3 GPS fills that niche for me swimmingly.

My suggestion to anyone pondering which version to buy is to do a realistic assessment of how you would use cellular in the Watch, then decide. With either choice, you still get what I consider to be one of the best bits of technology Apple has to offer - the Apple Watch.
Enjoy!

I got the cellular S3 and while I almost never use the cellular functionality it’s worth having for me for peace of mind. I’m not planning on upgrading this year but when do get another watch (S5 maybe, or S6), it’ll be cellular again.

I’m in the UK though and it’s only a fiver a month. In Apple terms, 10 months cellular = 1 sport band.

Another thing I didn’t mention was the ridiculous amount of time it took my S3 to connect to cellular. It was frustrating and had me wondering half the time whether the thing was working at all. I couldn’t imagine relying on that in an actual emergency.
Also S3 cost from GPS to cellular was quite small , now it’s £100!

My suggestion would also
be to try and try one out either in store or a friends , because the LTE experience is no way as seamless as Apple advertise and you may find the real way it works frustrating.
Also consider coverage.for example my S3 couldn’t get any reception in my gym which made it pointless for that use.

I got a cellular version of series 3 because it has 16GB storage vs the 8GB in series 3 GPS-only. Kind of ironic how the extra storage makes it less necessary for cell a plan since you can store more music and need to stream less. I don’t have cell active because I’m on ATT prepaid.

Both versions of series 4 have 16GB. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a stainless steel but disappointed they are cellular only. Wonder if this will change in a few months...

My carrier doesn't support cellular watch at this time and until you can actually stream content (spotify, audible, overcast) I don't have much use for it. My phone is with me if I'm out of the house anyway.

Went with cellular only as the Hermes edition is only cellular. Like being able to get my calls and text messages on my watch without having to carry my phone around. I can leave it at home when I go for a walk or I can leave it in my office when I need to go visit one of my employees on the other side of the building and I don’t have to worry where did I miss place it if I forget to pick it up if I place it on a desk or something. Also during the week I have to have a work phone which is an iPhone 6s and it’s nice to only have to carry one phone around instead of having to carry two phones around. So for me the added convenience of being able to leave a device at home and be able to do everything I need to do on it with the watch is an added bonus
