Which MacBook Air is faster? Also Which keyboard is better?

mid-2013 MacBook Air:

13 Inch

Processor: 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 4GB 1600 MHZ DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

Storage: 128 GB

2020 MacBook Air:

13 inch

Processor: 1.1 GHz dual core intel i3

Memory: 8gb 3733 mhz

Graphics: intel iris plus graphics 1536mg

Is this a serious question??

Which is better....
  1. A 2003 Honda Accord or a 2022 Honda Accord?
  2. An iPhone 4 or an iPhone 13?
  3. A 1998 Toshiba 32" standard definition TV or a 2021 LG 65" OLED 4k TV?

I don't really get the question either. If you're trying to buy one, why not get an M1 from the refurb store or on sale from Amazon or something? I would think they'd be the same price as the 2020 Intel models.

Some people might believe an i5 outperforms i3 even if there's a big age difference. This is especially true given the difference in GHz.

4GB of RAM is a downer. Could have been a tighter race with 8 on both machines. 4 can still be ok for wordprocessing, but 8 gives you that much more leverage on everything.

It's not as big of a difference as you might think. The 2013 13" Air could be configured with 8GB / 256GB SSD to match the base model 2020 i3 version @ 1.1Ghz. The Processor speed is a little less than twice as fast from the 2013 to the 2020 (2205 v. 4018 passmark). The processor is a 9w on the 2020 vs. 15w on the 2013, so battery life will be better, even with a brand new battery in each one. The SSD speeds are around "5xx to 6xx MB/s writes and 6xx to 7xx MB/s reads" on the 256GB from the 2013 model, while the 2020 models come in at "1319 MB/s reads and 1007 MB/s writes"
