Mojave on 2008 MBP and Sequoia on M4 Air.

I'm also beta testing Golden Gate. Will be happy to switch to it on release as long as many issues present in betas are fixed and AI isn't mandatory. Tried Tahoe a couple times and couldn't get used to it, no new features I actively used while many things became slower or are just plain bad (like the new Apps launcher), and it's way too ugly even though I'm not particularly fond of Big Sur design either.

I run Sequoia on everything.

I tried Tahoe recently, saw some animations with 10 FPS on a brand new MBA M5 and sent that machine back immediately. It's remarkable how Apple dropped the ball on Tahoe. I am an interface designer and cannot look at this garbage every day, it would drive me nuts. They violated their own interface guidelines, absolutely insane.

I will try again when 27.1 comes out.

I’m going to receive a new M5 MacBook Air, and I’d like my macOS jump to be straight to macOS 27 GG, so that I can avoid the UI disruption that macOS 26 was, but I don’t like to run beta software so I’ll likely be on Tahoe for a few months…

What I don’t like about this, is that I’ll likely get used to the bigger corner radius and padded floating sidebars, only for Apple to take them away from me once I’m used to it. Yeah, first world problems.

I have an M5 Air and, while I hate to say I see choppy animation and some minor visual glitches, I couldn't fathom sending back an otherwise beautiful machine. I have high hopes for GG.

The hardware may be great. But if the software sucks I'd rather stay on another machine with a good OS.

I'm still fairly new to the Mac so I could be wrong here, but isn't it possible to download a Sequoia installer and use that? That way you could've at least kept the machine.

Off topic, but ever try ScreenFlow? It’s been quite a while since I’ve used it, but found it a really solid app.

As I recall, I had apps quitting on me randomly as well as system bombs. Apps quitting on you randomly is bad enough if you're working on stuff and can't get it saved on time. It's even worse if the Mac itself keeps bombing on you.

Below is a very basic example of an OS9 bomb with the only possible action.

I believe an update later on fixed things, but for that particular day I learned my lesson. Do not update/upgrade a critical Mac when on a deadline.

One of these took down my Classic II at a crucial point in an all-nighter in college 😭

I'm using macOS 15.7.7, which is currently the latest version of Sequoia. I plan to skip macOS 26 entirely because it is full of bugs and bloat, thanks to Tim Cook's incompetence and corporate greed. I might upgrade to macOS 27 maybe when version 27.3 is released.

15.7.7 on work laptop and personal 16” MBP

26.5.2 on personal Neo, because apple forced it

15.7.7 is for sure the last great macOS and the last of the type of macOS where things just worked and wasnt a bloated abomination like tahoe. Same level as the final catalina version, and 10.6.8 before it
