I hope so too, but I think Golden Gate will be a noticeable improvement in optimization over Tahoe.

Sequoia on both my M4 Air and my wife's M2 Air. The plan is to skip Tahoe and update to GG once the first point update is released.

My IIci is running System 6.0.8 and my Quadra 700 is running 7.5.5. 😉

Sonoma. I see no benefit in installing and running Sequoia, and Tahoe will kill my Mac. Golden Gate is out of the question.

I am running Sequoia 15.7.4 (with a scheduled upgrade to 15.7.7 tonight) on my Mac Studio M4 Max

I am very happy with my choice to stay on Sequoia. It is fast, light, simple, and does everything I need without bogging down my GPU.

I’ve liked everything I’ve heard about it. As soon as the Public Beta opens, I’ll create a virtual machine and start messing around with it a bit.

Yes it is, mostly a reason for everyone else. But not for me. My criteria is much more basic. Can I still do what I want/need to do? When I can't, I'll do something else.

I'm not in the habit of banking on my Macs (unless the app is not working for some reason on my iPhone), I'm not in the habit of visiting sketchy websites or the dark web and I'm not in the habit of responding to unsolicited texts or emails by people pretending to be something I interact with. And as far as I know, I'm not a high value target where foreign countries are interested in taking my data. I do use the Mac to pay my bills, but all those websites are known. I type them in directly - no clicking links.

Over the course of a day I routinely cycle through four websites: Reddit, MacRumors, Google News, and Flipboard. Sometimes I add in Google and Wikipedia. Most of the rest of the time, this Mac is using Photoshop or InDesign.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max, running the 3rd dev beta of iOS 27, handles my banking apps - and anything else that may be sensitive.

So I get it. I'm just not picking it up.

Sequoia will do well for a few more years but your iMac is a good candidate for Linux if you go that route.

Funny you say that as I just stumbled across the thread that has the Terminal command to turn off floaty sidebars and I thought hmm... I wonder if it goes the other way and turns floaty sidebars back on in GG. 🙂
