I wouldn't consider 3G just because LTE is coming next year. 3G is slow as heck. The black strip on the back looks ugly too.

Rather use the money on a larger capacity model.

Hear what you're saying, but it's likely that apple will have a 3rd gen that can use that feature NEXT YEAR.

I had thought about a wifi with a 4g mifi from Sprint, but the added cost and inconvenience about having an additional device to tote and charge ruled that out for now...especially since they don't have 4G out in the hinterlands where my mother is.

And death star 3g is not a speed burner, but I can definitely tell a difference between the one and two on it. v2 is annoyingly slow, while v1 was painfully pokey.

IMO 64 gig 3g FTW. 660£ up front is steep, but I'm in europe though and don't have to pay for those ridiculous data plans that the USA offers (here, 7.50£ = 1gb, month to month contract cancel anytime.) I'm an american. For travelling its a must, simply put the tablet has saved my arse and you can't depend on wifi (everyone tries to charge you loads for 1 hour use, its not worth paying)

The simple fact that you don't get GPS makes me wonder why someone would not want that in their Ipad. The gps on this thing locks in seconds and is so useful, especially when travelling. You can even precache on wifi by scrolling around the area you're going to be, load up maps when you're there with your data turned off and let the gps show you where you are.

Again needs are what counts, but I would go for the top model, 64 gig 3g, you can always resell it next year and get most of your money back, like when i sold my iphone 3gs 32gb 2 months ago for.. 380£..!!

I wouldn't have bought this tablet if it didnt have 3g and GPS.

Im sorry but people who say 3G isnt worth it are Stupid Idiots. I guess they think they are the only people existing in the world and that there arent others living among them that have totally different situations in life.

3G may be worth it for some people, but that doesn't make the 3G models a good value.

The best value iPad is the 16GB Wi-Fi. An extra 16GB or storage costs was less than $100, an extra 48GB costs far less than $200, and 3G radios cost far less than $130.

That doesn't mean the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad is best for everyone, but it is the best value. Apple surely makes the least profit, by far, on the 16GB Wi-Fi model.

pretty sure im going to go with the 64g white/wifi version. 3g isn't worth the extra money for me as wifi is everywhere and 64g should be a good amount of memory.

thats what i did :) plus i figure if i ever need 3g ill add tethering to my iphone

IMO, 3G isn't worth it. I have wifi almost everywhere I go. I never feel like I need more connectivity. As for size...well that depends. I'm going with 64 as I don't want to have to pick and choose what to keep/remove from my device. I have the 16g iPhone and am constantly having to delete audiobooks because I dint have enough room.

I don't know how many times I've said it, but I have said it many times:

The 3G version of the iPad isn't only good for 3G data service. It also has a built-in GPS which can be quite useful as a navigation tool. It is independent of 3G data service but only is available on the 3G version of the iPad.

While the 3G version has GPS, so does every smartphone in existence. So is having that in your ipad as well worth an additional $125? I dunno, that's really steep for a $1 chip.

32gb Wi-Fi+3G gets My Vote

And, incidentally, what Consumer Reports recommended as the best possible model/value in theiriPad 2 review...which is not to say that I think that's the final word or anything, but it does (coincidentally) reflect my views on the issue. I can't imagine NOT havkng 3G available when I want/need it....as ubiquitous as wi-fi might seem, I have found that if I really want my iPad to be a mobile computing device, I need 3G as an option...and tethering just doesn't cut it for me (short battery life, extra monthly fees on my phone, and additional steps). Also, the 3G has a higher resale value...as I discovered when I went to sell my iPad 1. But, to each their own....

Way, Way, WAY too many questions to decide before answering this

You need 3g?
You plan on putting music/videos on it?
White or Black?

List goes on....
