im not buying a new headset

i need a external sound adapter thing to get my current mic/headset to work

Look for the Singstar USB microphone converter. It's part of a set that goes with a PSP, but it works with Macs- it's basically the same thing as an iMic without the audio outputs. I'm sorry, I feel uninformed- is there a Canadian version of eBay? That would be the best place to look.

i think im just goin to ask at bestbuy tomorrow

what are they called? usb microphone adapters?

If you were a bit more specific about where you are other then canada someone might be able to recommend a store to find the imic. Worst case scenario is you could order one from apple.ca

Buy yourself an external FireWire Audio interface. Choose one with amplified microphone input (most of them have it).

USB mic adapters are just too far away from any serious audio hardware.

i just need to know what they're called

dont think the firewire audio is it. they are too big

Since you are in Toronto I'd call your local apple store and see if they have the imic itself in stock. I really don't know of any other brands but I love mine so I've never had the need to look.

Good luck in your search.

strong fail by bestbuy AND futureshop

they had no idea what i was talking about and they didnt have the imic

now what?

so im trying to buy from the apple store and guess what? they dont accept paypal.

goood ****ing job retarded apple

Look man - MacRumors users can't hold your hand to the most convenient internet tube for you to fall in and get your **** - I found $0.50 adapter on Amazon in 1 minute of Googling that will probably work.

http://www.amazon.com/USB-Audio-Adapter-Microphone-Jack/dp/B000BUDHNQ

Or the iMic on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Imic-...5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271800174&sr=1-5

Or the iMic2 on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-iMic-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271800174&sr=1-1

Or maybe this thing:

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-ICUS...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271800174&sr=1-10

My point is you have had people tell you why the **** your input on your Mac doesn't work, it's not a mic input.

GO FIND A USB MIC INPUT YOU CAN AFFORD FROM SOMEONE WHO ACCPTS THE PAYMENT METHOD YOU HAVE AND SHIPS TO WHERE YOU LIVE.

Apple can't help you only have Pay-Pal, US only people can't help you're in Canada, and we can't help it that you didn't buy a USB headset to begin with.

For the love of God please quit begging for help and blaming other parties.
