Okay, ArtStudio is, without a doubt, the best $0.99 I've spent on an App! It's not the most fully featured, but it allows me to draw/paint without struggling!

I wanted to share my latest drawing done in ArtStudio:

Wow.

^ Mmm. An inversed / negative of a screenshot with the very good blending tool/brush smoothing over some of the picture... Slightly cheating ;) but still nicely done :)

Edit after da video: Sorry for being a doubting Thomas. Microbyte is just too frigging talented for his own good :D

How long did it take you to do that Mario painting? I like how you feel the need to put "I'm not a professional" yet produce amazing pictures that there is no way an average joe could draw.

I have Brushes and Sketchbook, and I generally prefer Brushes. Sketchbook has some nice features and Brushes, but I find the interface clumsy and redundent. Brushes has a superb interface, nothing is more than a single touch away. I also think Brushes has better... brushes. Most of the Sketchbook brushes are kind of pointless, and some generate poor results. All of Brushes' brushes are beautiful and useful. I also prefer the color wheel. Sketchbook wins in the simulated pressure sensitivity area, so I think it's the better option for line art. But when it comes to painting, Brushes is the way to go. Also, Brushes has unlimited undo.

Yep. What he/she said. :)

The Mario painting took me just over a week on and off. I'm actually happy that it's done, I've been neglecting all my new games for the past week, Iron Man 2 and Brother in Arms 2 are calling! :p

To be honest, if you're the kind of person interested in art as a hobby or professional, you owe it to yourself to buy both. It's amazing that you can get two full featured, near professional grade digital art apps for under $20 - much less than half the cost of desktop equivalence. And they run on a touch screen device that allows you to work directly on the screen! Something that - as far as I know - can't be experienced any other way without spending over $1000.

Hell, ArtStudio is so cheap you can get that as well without exceeding $20. They are all capable of different results.

Just posted in the other thread (the Sketchbook art one, albeit adding Brushes pics :) ) but surprised to see no mention of Layers or Inspire in the thread. Inspire especially has a very nice loaded brush option which I appreciated, but was a little too slow on my iTouch to use regularly.

Personally I can only go on my usage with the iPod touch but it's Brushes all the way for me. My first test with any art package is to draw five quick strokes with a black colour brush at half opacity. If it can't keep up with that and starts 'straight drawing' (only recognising the start and end point) then I know it won't keep up with what I want it to do. Brushes has always been the best at this and has what I think is the best UI to boot (shake to get interface Layers? I think not :) although that said I do like Layers apart from that) I'm aiming to do the same pic pn each of the drawing apps when I get my iPad so will be able to see what's what a little more clearly then... It's the first pic I always do with youth groups so seems a good demo test. This is the one I did in Brushes 2 (although it crashed - one of my only 2 or 3 crashes in caning the software - so I had to restart it from scratch):

Anyhow... iPad today!!! Woot!!!

OMG I bow to you and really take my hat off.

Seriously you are very good, I didn't think it was possible to be that detailed in Art Studio but fair play to you. I would have needed my Cintiq to do something like that.

Seriously sorry for ever doubting. Big kudos and shoutout to ya. :):):)

Thanks, that means a lot! :D

Here's my latest! It's CQB from Halo. I've got the figure on my desk and love this variant most!

This also done using ArtStudio for iPad. I should just rename this thread to,"I love ArtStudio". I honestly haven't found the need to purchase any other art apps... Yet...

I wanted to share my first iPad painting done on ArtStudio. As mentioned, I'm not a professional, just someone who likes to paint for fun! I need to work on the flower some more, but I love the way it came out. I actually have this as my home screen wallpaper since it's dark and actually looks good! :p

If anyone wants the full size for their wallpaper, I'd be happy to share!

nice..... I like it

Here's my latest one, a portrait of my cat Smokie. This was done on an iPad using the ArtStudio App.

I really had a hard time trying to figure out how to paint the fur, but am more than happy with the results.

Surprisingly, the ear was probably the one of the most difficult part since it is so plain looking at first site.

I really am proud of this painting and think it's true to life!
