Hi,
sorry if this question have been asked millions of time. but i am not able to find a suitable thread. i have 2017 imac 27inch. i am wondering which is a good (and cheap) ram i should buy? currently i have 8gb and want to add 16gb more.
thanks a lot :D

Don't buy "cheap" memory! You likely paid close to $2000.00 for that iMac, so it's a good idea don't you think to buy quality memory even if it's more expensive?

I recommend buying memory from OWC (www.macsales.com) or from Crucial. Amazon sells Crucial memory so you may find a good bargain there.

normal ram might not have the same bus speed and compability.... ** ECC ram not the same with normal ram.

Thank you very much SaSaSushi, alien3DX and chscag for reply. can someone point out what is diff b/w single module and kit RAM? which one should i go for?
crusial has so many different types of RAM.. quite confusing for non-it person like me :(

if you 0 knowledge just end user, why not upgrade at apple authorized center ?

For me , i buy base line and no need to upgrade much
https://everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-i5-2.3-21-inch-aluminum-mid-2017-specs.html
For you maybe
https://everymac.com/systems/apple/...7-inch-aluminum-retina-5k-mid-2017-specs.html

Unless you specify which 2017 version , it will be much help to spoke to here or owc which ram you would buy..

Do remind, high ram don't solve anything.. but a bit help.. if you upgrade ram just thinking it was slow.. maybe you bought fusion drive not the ssd drive..

btw thanks alot i will have a look at the links. i have 2017 imac 27 inch, i5 3.4 ghz, 1tb fusion drive.

You asked which memory you should buy... here's what your 5K 27" 2017 iMac takes:

Maximum Memory 64 GB
Memory Slots 4 - 260-pin PC4-19200 (2400 MHz) DDR4 SO-DIMM

Just follow the advice you were given above and stay away from Apple as their memory is way too expensive. As stated, OWC, Crucial, and Amazon for Crucial memory.

If in Europe, most Amazon sites sell RAM called KomputerBay which is also very good.
