Ya it’s set to off.Are you sure your auto brightness is set to off?
Ya it’s set to off.
I noticed another thread with folks saying their 12 pros were also not as bright as the X or the 11pros.Yeah I came from X also. My 12 Pro is brighter and more yellow.
Those people may have defective units. X and 12 are 620 nit. 12P is 800 nit. So Pro is like 30% brighter.I noticed another thread with folks saying their 12 pros were also not as bright as the X or the 11pros.
seems to be all over the place.

None taken...it certainly caught my eye after turning it on.No offense but that picture makes the screen quality for the 12 look like ****.
Yep, this unit definitely isn’t brighter. Those people may have defective units. X and 12 are 620 nit. 12P is 800 nit. So Pro is like 30% brighter.
so much for the 12 screen being same as the pro this yearThose people may have defective units. X and 12 are 620 nit. 12P is 800 nit. So Pro is like 30% brighter.
Here is mine for reference. 12 Pro on left. X on rightYep, this unit definitely isn’t brighter.
Ha, the opposite of mine. Here is mine for reference. 12 Pro on left. X on right
In fairness the 30% difference isn’t very noticeable in practice in my opinion. Our eyes and brains perceive brightness roughly logarithmically, so for something to appear twice as bright to the eye it actually needs to be about 10X as bright in an absolute sense. If you have a smart led bulb with brightness control you can test this yourself - a setting of 10-20% appears as roughly half the max. I suspect on phone display sliders that this effect is already compensated for in software.so much for the 12 screen being same as the pro this year
Yes. max brightness and True Tone / night mode off for both.Ha, the opposite of mine.
Are these both to max brightness?
Yes. max brightness and True Tone / night mode off for both.
would help in the sun thoughIn fairness the 30% difference isn’t very noticeable in practice in my opinion. the two screens are the same in resolution and peak HDR brightness, the Pro just drives the display a little brighter during normal use.
I’d feel ok if both phones were roughly the same in brightness, but this pro is definitely less bright.would help in the sun though
What does it look like with the True Tone on?Yes. max brightness and True Tone / night mode off for both.
It is more yellow with True Tone turned on. My personal take is that while the iPhone 12 models are getting a lot of flack around the community for being "too yellow", it's actually the previous models that are too blue. I think the colors and white point on the pro are more neutrally balanced. What does it look like with the True Tone on?
sounds like most of the folks with yellow issues are turning theirs off...
