I am baffled that a full frame camera is being thrown around. I would suggest getting good glass (a lot of glass cost more than a camera body) and using a crop sensor to learn on.

Someone said an XS has a better sensor than an XSi. Uh, yeah. The XSi has one of the best sensors in any Rebel made. If you know where I can get an XS with a 50mm 1,8 for $100, please let me know. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

I don't know about 100, but a friend of mine sold his for 200$. XS body and 1.8 nifty fifty lens. Only used around 2 years.
I was telling guy up there that he should learn on a crop and it would make him want a full frame, especially when he gets good glass.
I think if you use the XS for a bit you won't ever think, "Oh I wish I had the XSi." Get the XS, save some dough and get some good glass.

Just my opinion.

I just think for a bit more money spent, you can get a much better camera; build quality wise and value. a 20D is like $250-$300, a 30D body not much more, and like $500 you can get a nice 40D. Plus it will hold its' resale value much better than a base camera. He keeps it a year, they will have maybe two more Rebel bodies out.

I'm not sure what is being marketed on the Australian eBay site, but a Kiss X3 & a 500D are the same body. 500D/ T1i, is the name for North America, and Kiss X3, is the name for Japan.

Personally, I would buy from an established member on Fredmiranda. I know I pointed it out earlier, but the support from within the community is much better than Fleebay. Plus there is quite the contingent of Aussie's & Kiwi's on FM. ;) As HBOC has pointed out, bang for your buck wise, you will get a more durable & useful body, feature wise, in say a 40D, rather than a Rebel. And I have a 40D, that I am selling, but I dunno about shipping to Down Under.

I shipped a Nikon Coolscan IV ED to Tasmania, and priority is cost me like $82. I am sure the 40D is less than that.
