Not sure how I feel about rebooted Futurama. It was already rebooted once before, and I thought the finale was excellent. I didn't really need to see it come back. But I'll be interested to see the reviews and whether it's worth giving it a chance.

Has anyone seen the newest season of Black Mirror? I just found out it was a thing. I hate the idea of temporarily subscribing to Netflix to watch it, but I do like the show (well, some of it; it's pretty inconsistent, but the good stuff is really good).

I had mixed feelings about the first instalment of the new Futurama also. I mean, it was okay, but not a stellar "pilot" for the new run. I did enjoy the Siri parody though.

Weird whacky funny clever brilliant! Love it. Just as good as the first season.

Just stopped watching this new ‘Hijack’ series, because after seeing how they got into the cockpit I’m done, poorly done, really poorly, would never happen like that in a million years.

Hijack is the closest thing to 24 since it went off the air, not just because of the "real time" premise, but in an often times tenuous connection to plausibility and reality.

But if taken as a summer time TV diversion/junk food binge, it's still kind of fun, and only seven episodes, so not a large commitment either.

I didn't love it, nor did I hate it, and the way it wrapped up before was nice. But Hollywood likes to milk cows that can produce, even old ones, until they're dry, so if it works for the accountants, it will be made.

In a similar vein, I'm still trying to work out how I feel about Justified: City Primeval.

Not going to turn down a chance to see more of those characters, but so far, the balance of the recipe feels a bit off, and tastes different than I remember. A bit too heavy on the seriousness, and not enough of the humor.

New month, new shows. I’ll be looking forward to the following:

- Reservations Dogs (excellent show, great cast)

- The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart

- Billions

- Special Ops

- Only Murder in the building

I'm on episode 42 [of 45] of The Twelve Kingdoms. I gotta say, for an josei anime (trageted mainly at women), it will appeal to a broad group of otakus. The setting is a parallel world set in on the Three Kingdoms period.

Some of the characters reminds me of the legendary people of the era. Shoukei reminds me of Liu Bei. Kantai is a lot like Guan Yu--kicks (_!_) like a nuclear powered (_!_) kicking machine. If this were a shonen anime, he would have been the main character. They would have him lay waste to entire armies a la Achillies and kill enemy generals epic battles spanning multiple episodes.😉

The anime is mainly character driven, so if you're in that kind of stuff, I highly recommend.🥰 It's heavy on the social commentary too. I want moar, Moar, MOAR!🤭

I needed light entertainment after The Twelve Kingdoms, so I started watching Gokushufudou (The Way of the Househusband).

A series about a former notorious Yakusa (Japanese mobster) retiring from the underworld and living as a stay at home husband. John Wick before his wife died.😉 Humor is derived from juxtapostion of housekeeping from a mobster's POV, using mobster methodologies, mobster speech pattern, etc.

One more thing. His old yakusa past keeps trying to interfere with his new life as a stay at home husband. "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!"

The bonus is he excels at cooking, cleaning, bargain hunting, sewing...in short, he's the ideal housewife.🤫

I watched the last episodes of The Witcher…and I don’t know what to think. I’m so confused. Too many characters and to many “side changes”. Is it so difficult to make a decent show for Netflix? Always the first season is great but after it just turns so bad.

I’m a bit disappointed by Lioness, I was expecting something very good as all Sheridan’s stuff. Sometimes, it’s a bit ridiculous.

Not my typical post on the matter.

I started watching Hijack on TV+. I shut it down after 30 mins of episode 1. The level of sloppy writing is just off the charts. Spoilers ahead. Not only I have to believe that someone that finds a bullet left by a terrorist in the airplane restrooms (an already sloppy tension creator plot device) but that she just tells a random stranger (which surprise… is a terrorist l!) and not any of the crew. Then, and this is where I shut it down yelling at the screen, I have to believe that in a post 9/11 world a pilot who knows what is going on in the airplane (and even says that if the terrorists get in they will all die) decides to open the secure and bulletproof cockpit’s door - after fighting and beating up his female copilot to a pulp - because a crew member is also his secret lover and tells him “I love you please open the door.” And I hope that the pilot doesn’t turn up being a terrorist too because that would be even sloppier.

Just lazy writing.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of shows like that, which lack coherence or a tiny bit of realism. Okay it’s just TV, but sometimes I feel they take the audience for dumb people. I mean Hijack is the perfect exemple, but there are so many shows with stupid things. Maybe they want to address the widest audience possible so they have to dumb down to the lowest denominator. Or maybe there are too many shows and the audience is just blasé. It’s very stunning because I’m sure they do panel tests before releasing shows.

You are far more patient than us. We didn't even get that far. I think we turned it off after about 10 mins.

I was ok with it and can be tolerant but it’s a disappointing finale for sure. I never did like the main character and any plot just unraveled. To be fair it’s the first series I made it through on atv plus.

That said I feel like we’re in a rut. Most services not part of something like prime are paused for me. There’s definitely a lack of good tv. Can’t wait for college sports. Been watching YouTube mostly.

Took my daughter to see Barbie. If not for her I’d have walked out. So boring. How is it doing so well? I didn’t care about messages or politics, it was just boring to me. As was flash. As was guardians. Indy. Just subpar.
