House of Cards is an instance where the US version is much superior to the British version.

You might very well think that, but I couldn't possibly comment... except I will! To be fair they only have a passing similarity and are quite different. Personally, I think they are both excellent. It is worth mentioning that expectations for TV have changed and the original house of cards is 25 years old too...
