What will you use as work phone in the meantime? Can you survive without a work cellphone?

Personally, I wouldn't want to use my personal smartphone for work. I've got several unlocked phones (5c, 5s, Moto G) that the family uses for international travel which can be temporarily appropriated for work use. If I didn't have any spare phones to use, I'd just get whatever free model is more suited for my work usage.

I mostly work from home. I use my work phone to access email/tethering when I'm in route to a client site. Once I'm onsite, I usually have internet access. That's why I'm thinking I can hold out for another month. When fall kicks in though, I'll probably need to get something.

These posts make me LOL... so we don't remember iPhones prior to September 2014? ?

I sure do and 2 of them were the same size of the SE and 5 of them were actually smaller... just saying the SE is no smaller than the 5s that we used for a year and the 5 before it
Funny how the original iPhone was announced as having a large 3.5" multitouch display, and now 4" is too small to be useful.

The iPhone SE is the perfect size, IMO. It's great for texting, watching a few short videos, looking up things on the internet while you're out, etc. If I'm going to be spending hours watching videos or browsing the web, I'm going to do it on either a tablet, laptop, or my TV. Even 6" phones are too small to enjoy watching movies on.

how is it more future proof than the SE when they have the exact same internals minus 3d touch (and front camera)
3D Touch is what makes it more future proofed. 3D Touch gestures will only become more widespread across system and third party apps and if you don't have it, you will be left behind on a number of features into the future.

You may just miss out on a couple of non-essential features. That doesn't make it less future proof. None of the iPads have force touch either. The iPhone SE is going to receive updates just as long as the iPhone 6s.

SE. It's so nice that I am bypassing the 7 for it.

Yup, I picked up a 64GB SE yesterday because the 6SE/7 is not worth the premium. All I got to say is get it at Target or any place that gives you a good deal. I was able to turn a $25 cricket prepaid phone into a $200 giftcard. Also added a line for another $200 which I will cancel in a month.
I've never used a iPhone 5 series for more than a week so the body is new to me. Point here is don't just walk away with the phone, maximize the deal.

features that aren't necessary. force touch is not necessary as an essential hardware component for future updates since they give you the option to turn it off if you want. a lot of people even forget its there.

Have had mine since launch. It's a keeper. Same performance as the 6s and the battery lasts me two days easy. That's 10-12 hours usage. The SE is the perfect iPhone.

It certainly isn't necessary for anything (so far), but seems like it might be becoming as the way to do various things, which might become even more widespread as time goes on. For example rich interactive notifications in iOS 10 work better with 3D Touch and potentially might not offer as much without it. Or some functions like clearing all notifications that are available with 3D Touch, but essentially don't seem to exist without it.

I just went through 3 replacement SE models with faulty logic boards (Apple technicians at a store diagnosed them) before finally giving up and getting another 6s. I had given my previous 6s to my guy for his birthday and was wanting a smaller phone. Didn't work out for me but for a majority the SE is just fine.

One way to test the logic board yourself and see the same results I was is by hard resetting and seeing if the screen flickers really bad upon restart. This was obvious in my 3 SE's.

Edit: I'm also a person who likes to follow the S lines. I'm not sure how I feel about the 7. The lack of 3.5mm jack isn't feasible for me because Bluetooth headphones won't last all night. I'll need the phone plugged in too so a dual adapter would be needed. I use White noise to sleep sometimes. =/

so what did they/you do. did they return the phone for you, or did you just keep it and get another phone?

If the SE screen is to small I would wait til the new iPhone 7 comes out and I would get the new 7. This way you'll have the latest and greatest and best for future proofing that will last a lot longer. Or if you can't wait then get the 6S. IF 16gb is not enough then pay the $100 difference and gets the 64gb.

I used to have a 3S. I remember small phones. I don't really want to go back to that. It just seems like the SE has much better specs than the 6. I'm just not sure how much better the SE is than the 6S.

Hey I don't believe the SE is a better phone than the 6s or 6s Plus, but it is for sure better than the 6 and 6 Plus that sales for $150-$250 more.

They did nothing except offer another replacement. Explained situation to T-Mobile, used up my last JUMP until June of next year on a 6s. I can't lie, it was very frustrating.
