This is a Verizon map, not a Sprint map

Just because markets "have" 4G doesn't mean it's usably saturated. I'm in Phoenix and there was just a story on our local news from their "we fight fraud for your entertainment" departments about how this Sprint customer was upset over paying for 4G service that he wasn't able to actually take advantage of. They spoke to Sprint and various tech people and all said that 4G coverage is extremely spotty. Basically, the carriers are making sure to get at least a 4G tower or two wherever they can so they can claim they have coverage in all these cities, but you'll need to be within range of those very few towers to actually get it. So, realistically, it's as others have said before it's widespread - a year, 18 months, two years.

My experience with the Thunderbolt that Verizon's coverage is pretty thorough for the metro area listed. The map says San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland have coverage. We've never found anyplace in the Bay area without good signal. Recently went to Boston, and had full coverage inside 495 and the north and south coasts.

I had no idea they existed :) On shopping list now ;)

Not so sure it will do any good, if I understand your explanation of the problem. Didn't you say that carrying the device in you pocket like that causes the jack to eventually wear out? If so, why would a short dongle be any different in regard to wallowing out the jack than the stock headphones?

----------

i did have to buy a new pair. i had the EarSet 3 but they made me buy the EarSet 3i when it came out. and i believe its Apples fault for changing the jacks slightly.

Not sure how producing a standard 3.5mm jack with a completely flat shoulder, and no obstructions around it can be Apple's fault. I've plugged about 15 different headphones, audio cables into my iPhone 4, and every one of them works. Everything from $200 Shures to the original Apple POS white headphones.

We all know that B&O likes to make and market "distinctive" products. And the fact that they offered free upgrades to the headphones would seem to be a sort of admission if I were guessing.

Now, if you were talking about the original iPhone with the recessed jack I could understand...

Is it possible these are iphone "4s" parts? The headphones jacks being flat suggest that the frame is going to be flat, doesn't it? Doesn't apple curve the headphone jacks on all beveled devices to make it look uniform?

Granted this could also suggest the iphone 5 wont be as curved as we previously had thought?

Apple will not include LTE in the upcoming iPhone 5 because LTE has very worldwide deployment at this time. For Apple, the network comes first, then the handset.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Either way I don't think anyone not in the Apple inner circle can be definitive about what Apple will or will not do. It's all speculation to us. Past isn't always prologue when Apple is involved.

I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, very rural area. Both Verizon and AT&T SAY we have 3G but good luck getting it out in some of these valleys! Asheville is fine, but if you're out in Leicester or Mars Hill or Weaverville or Waynesville, forgetaboutit! Many places I travel only has me on E according to my iPhone. Believe me, I'm NOT holding my breath for 4G anytime soon!
