I don't know if I'm the only one but I just exchanged my gold IPP for Space gray and the difference is night and day,now the screen looks beautiful and colors stand out where with the white bezels it looked dull and not at all what a qhd+screen should look like.
It's like the white bezels where distracting and made the overall screen just look washed out. I definitely notice a difference.
Anyone else exchange theirs or think the black bezels look better? Sure I loved the gold color ,if only it came with black bezels:)
Simply a personal preference. Some like; others do not. Like everything else.

Most of the interfaces I look at all day are white or lighter in color, black to me is a more distracting frame for all of that.

It really didn't bother me UNTIL I got the Create keyboard the other day. I know the Space Grey with the Create is going to look fantastic so I'm going to exchange my current gold IPP. The white bezel doesn't do the Create keyboard justice from my perspective.

And there is always the case of being slightly distracted with the white bezel while watching videos.

I think it depends heavily on your use of the iPad. Since I'm using the Pro as an artistic medium, the white bezel is actually way better because it feels like I'm looking at a large white canvas or paper rather than these dark borders.

But if you're using it for media then black is by far better. It's funny because using the iPad Pro as a art canvas was the first time that I ever found a actual use for the white bezel aside from aesthetics.

I've never purchased an iPad (or iPhone for that matter) with white bezels for this exact reason. For me, having the black bezels makes the experience more immersive. The large white bezels make me feel like I'm holding a picture frame. I know some people don't mind them, but they're definitely not for me.

Put me in the camp of 'white bezels are distracting to me'.

To me, white makes browsing, emails and most things on iOS look better. But black is undoubtedly better looking for immersive video watching.

I went with the white one. But it's probably going to get returned because I still like my Air's form factor more for most things.

I own iPads with both and I much prefer the white bezel. I like to be able to see the edge of the screen when doing editing. White is also Apple's original signature color.

I've owned every model of iPad since the original, same goes for the iPhone. The iPad Pro is the first iPad/iPhone that I haven't gone with the black bezel. With the Pro I went with the White/Silver combination. At first I was worried that I would find the white bezel distracting. I decided to go with the white regardless because I wanted a change. In the end, I haven't found the white bezel distracting at all. As others have said also, I believe it really comes down to personal preference.

All my phones from the 3G to my 5 were black. Since the 5S on, I've gone silver/white and haven't looked back. I love the clean, modern, sleek look. I read about people's and their distraction comments and was slightly worried. I've never had an issue.

Not a fan of space gray. If it were an actual black, it would be better.

My ipp is silver/white. Beautiful combo. :)

I think it comes down to what you ultimately use the iPad for. If you're always reading a book or typing out text, white would make sense.

Personally, however, I agree with the OP and think white bezels look/feel weird when working on a productivity device. I don't like watching video, typing documents, reading text, and I especially don't like how it looks with the display off.

Gold or Rose Gold with a BLACK bezel, and I'll instantly buy it.

That's fine. Some can't perceive laggy phones or can tell the difference between low and high definition screens. Ignorance is bliss.
this has nothing to do with ignorance but with your personal opinion. To some people it may be distracting - to others not.

I prefer the black bezel. However, I was able to get an iPad Pro with the white bezel for a $50 discount. Guess what? I'm fine with the white bezel now.

I just bought a 64GB Slate Gray iPad Air 2 from Best Buy to sneak in on the last day of their sale, and will sell my white-bezeled 32 GB iPad Air shortly. We have a black-bezeled iPad 3 here in the office to go along with the Air for our clients to use - despite its "slowness" and relative heaviness, the iPad 3 gets picked up 9 times out of 10 for reading and the answers I get from those who pass on the faster Air is along the lines of the white bezel distracting from its use. Maybe I should just put some electrical tape on the Air's bezels...

I like white bezels on my iPhones so I can find them in the car and I prefer black bezels on my iPads now.
