White iPhone available for online purchase on launch day?

I completely agree with that. They would have a ton of people swapping and so I doubt we'll see the white iPhone within the next 30 days.
I think you're misunderstanding me, or I'm misunderstanding you. I apologize. I'll try to condense my statement: Apple (and the public) knew they are having trouble with white iPhone 4's on June 15. If Apple believed they would be unable to sell any white iPhone 4s on June 24, they would have told us then. The fact that they chose only to say that its *currently* unavailable for pre-order suggests that other than White iPhones being unavailable for pre-order or reservation right now, everything else is going as planned.
but I also believe that the latest they would announce white iPhone 4 unavailability is tomorrow. (Tuesday)
EDIT: I just think they popped in the all-white design a little later than they should have and they just aren't confident in the size of the initial shipment. They're gonna throw whatever white inventory they do have into the stores.

whatever the situation is apple has to know by now at least if there will be ANY available on release day at the actual apple store. thats all im looking for at this point. i dont think thats much to ask for. its so frustrating especially to call the apple store like i did today and the response you get from them is worse than on the damn forum here. uhh well we might get them or we might not. if its going to be at a later time just tell us already. i mean we are getting within the week of release they have to know whats going to be available if anything at this point. i guess the last thing you can do is call the store u are wanting to go to the day before the release later in the day like after 5 or 6 and see if they received any and hopefully they give you a correct answer and go from there.

They only said no preorder for white. This has everything to do with the number available. I can guarantee Apple stores will have white iPhones on display and available for purchase on day one.
They knew they would presell them out leaving non for display or walk in purchase.

I went in for help with my 3GS. Didn't receive any help of any value.
My warranty is up in 6 days. Manager offered to cover my phone for a month from today, since I'd indicated that I plan to buy an iPhone 4 once the intial rush slows down (I told him I had not preordered).
I told him I wanted a white one, and had no idea when they'd be in stores. He made a sort of aggravated face at me, and offered to give me a 3-month extension.... I have until 9/21 to either buy a white phone or have them replace my 3GS if the problem continues.
(Which, it will, but that's the subject of my post over in the Troubleshooting forum.)
Soo... why did he jump from 1 month to 3 when I mentioned that I plan to get a white one?
I will be amazed if there are any around until August or September.

and thats the type of information that scares me. on one hand like you said they havent said anything regarding a delayed release on the 24th everything has just been in regards to the pre-order officially but when apple workers are telling you things like oh we will extend it 3 more months thats not very reasuring. i will be very upset though if i end up trying to go there really early and it ends up being no white's available because of apples disregard for there customers and releasing info to us at least the week of the release i dont think thats alot to ask when everyone commits so much time and money to apple.
The simple fact of the matter is it's very likely that just a dozen people on this planet right now know with any certainty when the iPhone 4 in white will be available. 11 of them are in Cupertino and 1 in China.
Well, that's a good point, but if the word was that white would definitely be available in stores at launch, they'd know they'd have white.... just not how many. Eh?
I guess the store manager being so hesitant got me thinking that it's less likely that they'll have white right away, that's all.
