I was at my local Apple Store this morning - the silver and white magic MK looks a lot nicer in person than in videos / images. However having owned a white Magic Keyboard before, the white material gets easily stained by cleaning cloths etc being in the same bag /other items. I also always disliked the way the keyboard brightness looked on the white keys. So I went with the space black. Also, for those of you considering mixing colours- e.g a silver iPad with a space grey keyboard, when I tried this out it looked ok, but took away from the overall aesthetic imo.

I have the white for my Air 5, and it’s what I ordered to go with my silver pro. There is a little discoloration from dirt around the edges of the bottom of the MK where it sits and gets moved around on surfaces, but it wipes almost all the way clean. I figure the black is dirty too even if I can’t see it, and the greasy spots that form on the black ones really isn’t any better.

I was just thinking about that actually, and it’s true. I just hope the text doesn’t wear off quickly like my white silver iMac keyboards with the concave keys. The older ones with the flat keys were more resistant to that.

Anyhow I’ve decided on the white. I was biased against it before because of the old white Magic Keyboards but the new silver aluminum + white just looks so much nicer in pictures and review videos than the old all white ones.

I’ll have to confirm how much I like it in-store first, but I have time since I won’t be ordering the iPad Pro until June (edu promotion).
Keep us updated if you go to the store today. My silver iPad pro arrives at home today and I already received the black smartfolio case. But now I'm back and forth between the silver aluminum magic keyboard or the black with my silver iPad.

I'm going to try to stop by the Apple store tomorrow when hopefully the hype drawing people in has calmed down.

I'm not going today. I'm not ordering the iPad Pro until next month, so I can wait.

However, my friend was at the flagship Apple Store in Toronto today and he said there weren't very many people there. The rep there said it was busy in the first 15 minutes (presumably partially from all the people waiting for pickup), but otherwise after that there was no line or anything.

I agree that silver looked better in person so I ended up going with it. Not sure I love it.... but still like the outside material being white. Maybe because I have lot of white/chrome elements in my house so it looks more natural in my habitat. But I'm sure I'll stress over the decision until my return window has closed.

I bought the white case and plan to sticker it up as it gets dirty like a suitcase.
Also have the option of throwing a skin on the whole case - I did this with my last keyboard case and got so many compliments.

I picked up a black Magic Keyboard for my 13" iPad Pro last night at Best Buy. I love the updated feel of the keyboard, especially the aluminum palm rest. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened up the keyboard, I noticed a fairly big (about 2mm long) gouge or scuff in the aluminum directly to the left of the trackpad. It's especially noticeable since the scuff appears silver against the black aluminum (it probably wouldn't be noticeable on the white/silver keyboard). Hoping this is just a one-off manufacturing defect or quality control issue and not a sign of long-term durability issues. I'm going to exchange it for a new one at Best Buy today.

This is the reason I usually don't get anodized Apple products. I usually get silver, unless I'm going to put a case on the metal parts (iPhone).

I typically go with the darker colors but after seeing how “not black” the new setup is, I went with the silver. So far I am really digging the Silver!

This is for the older Magic Keyboards and iPad Pros, but I do like the silver iPad with black Magic Keyboard in the video.

Some of the labeling in the video is wrong but you get the picture.
a follow up video gives another great comparison

It's been a while now, but I ended up getting the 11" M4 silver with white keyboard (with silver top case). Looks great, and I'm glad with my colour decision.
If I could switch my space black iPads for a silver, I would do it in a heartbeat. I love the space black color, but I have white magic keyboards, and while it doesn't look bad paired with the space black iPads, the silver would just give a better, more uniform look. Plus smudges / fingerprints are much less obvious on the silver iPads (the space black iPads don't seem to be as smudge-free as the space black M3 MacBooks for some reason).

I think the same for colour combo and also the fingerprints, thanks for the post. Silver will probably be for my next iPad too (5+ years maybe!)
For me as well, I'm currently considering buying a Magic Keyboard for my space black iPad - I like the white keys and silver surface on the white/silver magic keyboard but for me the space black & silver sandwich when closed would look out of place enough to irritate me. Then dark keys and fingerprints on a black magic keyboard case will irritate me too..!
think I probably just need to chill out! 😆

Silver here 11" M4, got it few weeks old for a steal, didn't even know what colour till I picked it up lol.
I like it and will get the white MGK, the black folios are horrible after awhile, have a silver iMac so will blend in on my office desk.
Can't complain for a half price iPad. Got a pencil pro for $100AUD off retail too, now just need to get a MGK for a good price.
Won't be as easy I don't think.

Why don't you put a silver skin on your Black iPad?

How are people cleaning their M4 MKB? I have the black one and it’s already marked up. I tried to clean my M2 MKB before as directed by Apple and it caused even more marks on the case.

Isopropyl alcohol & microfibre cloth to try and get the finger oils out. Strong plastic sticky tape with medium strong adhesive to try and lift any marks/stains. works well to keep it looking clean, but it’ll never be ‘as new’

edit: I should say that’s for the case. The keyboard and trackpad is just microfibre cloth and rarely a little isopropyl alcohol when very oily
