I myself have become a bit of a case junkie. I bought a Contour iSee when I bought the phone. Not a great case. I knew that it was flimsy and actually had a Capsule Rebel on order when I dropped it from about 6" onto a marble floor. The case just popped open. No damage, thanks god.
I love the Capsule Rebel arctic, then ordered 2 colors cases. Great. While I was waiting for Switcheasy to deliver to the great white north, I ordered an iFrogz Luxe. Very nice case but does not protect as well as the Rebel. I now have another Rebel on order. I use them all depending on the occasion.
After the last case arrived, my wife gave out to me about another case. My 9 yrs old daughter told her, " It's like clothes for the iPhone mommy". LOL. I couldn't have put it better myself.
Shana Tova everyone!

I just got one, ivolution for Apple iPhone 3G from Vaja.
Wow. Nice!
Been looking at it myself but can't afford it right now.
What a beautiful case. Hard to know which color combo I could live with. ;)
They're all stunning.

Per AT&T's new (and ridiculous) policy, I was required to purchase a case, a car charger and a bluetooth headset with mine. I qualified for contract renewal but to get the lower price I was required to buy the accessories. My original iPhone was stolen a few weeks ago. I had the Belkin Slim-Fit pouch for it and it did a good enough job although it didn't offer much corner protection.

I dropped it accidentally a few times both in and out of the Belkin pouch. The first time, I had the phone clipped to the inside top of my messenger bag and as I was getting ready to leave my apartment, the pouch somehow flipped over and the phone slipped out onto the edge of a wooden stair. It left a faint one-inch indentation in the metal casing but was otherwise none the worse for the wear. Another time it, again, slipped out of the well-used pouch and onto the tile floor in my bathroom and picked up a nasty corner dent that almost disabled the Vibrate/Ring switch and gave the slightest scratch to the screen at one edge. Yet other times, the phone was dropped while in the pouch and the worst of the damages sustained were some corner scratches. No functional issues arose but plenty of aesthetic ones did.

For the 3G, I was torn between two cases they had at the store. Both were Incipio cases. One was the Eco (textile) pouch. It has no clip and pretty much the same layout (and weaknesses) as the Belkin Slim-Fit. The other case was the Silicrylic case. I bought it because it seemed to have decent corner protection and I knew I eventually would get a pouch-type case with a clip but one that had full lower protection ala Sena Elega. Right now I'm using the Silicrylic with just the soft silicone glove, no frame.

I like the way the Sena Elega looks for the original iPhone a little better than the current offering for the 3G model. But the many negative things I have read about its brittle clip has kept me from seriously considering it. I'm not hard on my clips but I use it a lot and I would be worried about it breaking it. I also like their Ultraslim pouch but being clip-less, it would not fully satisfy my needs. I'm seriously considering it, though.

While searching for info on the Elega, I came across a video review of the Vaja iVolution. I love the options for customization but the price is formidable ($115 with clip)! I'm sure it's worth it but I just can't be throwing down that much at the moment. But with how much I've spent so far on cases (and other unnecessary accessories like a car charger) for my iPhones, I've spent about that much already!

I like the idea of a pouch/holster type of case much more than the clear plastic cases or soft silicone/plastic fitted ones ala Silicrylic. I have a hard clear plastic Agent18 case for my iPod and though it looks good, it collects and traps dust and propagates scratches. Same for the soft silicone cases. The pouch also lets dust in but it seems easier to manage when I can get to the phone. I suppose I'll be deciding in the next few days and will return with my findings after receiving the new case(s).

Please excuse my long first post.

Alright, so I decided to forego the clip idea for now and got the Incipio ECO pouch. Just had to have a pouch case again. Very nice natural fabric on the outside (is it hemp? :) ) and very soft natural fabric inside. Has a strong chemical odor ATM from the foam insert. It's a nicely-made case for what it is. Sticker price was $19.99 but the guy at the AT&T store sold it to me for $14.99. I was happy about that.

It fits nice and snug right now and new-out-of-box, the top of the phone sticks out a little bit (about 1/16"). I reckon that after some break-in time, it will fit a little better and will not stick out. Still not much corner protection, being essentially identical in form to the Belkin Slim-Fit, but unlike the Belkin, it has no mesh bottom for the speaker/mic openings. I still like it though. There's something about the stark contrast with the rustic, rugged look of the earth-tone fabric pouch and the sleek, shiny gadget nestled inside that works for me.

I have also decided to order a Vaja iVolution Stripes case after all. It is just too cool. I said I couldn't afford it earlier but I'm just gonna have to make it happen. Now I just have to decide on the colors (not such an easy task).

*Well I decided :)
Ordered an ivolution Stripes about an hour ago. They quoted me 20 days for the build and probably 3-5 for shipping from Argentina (based on other buyers' experiences).
Now for the wait...

Innocase Surface II with holster (but only use it when I put my phone in my gf's purse)...hehe
