never liked normal jelly beans, no matter what color they were...but the black ones were especially nasty to me. i love the starburst jelly beans, though! they're so yummy! :)

They are all good - the black ones have a richer taste than the others and I enjoy them, but my personal favorite are the white ones - the vanilla taste just seems right in a jelly bean...

I thought white was coconut... maybe that's only jelly belly's though. I tend to get the two confused a lot.

I like them. Usually I only eat the black and the red ones. Unless they are jelly bellies. The starburst kind are really good as well.

And Sambuca is the worst alcoholic beverage out there. The taste of black licorice in liquid form. Ewwwww:mad:

For licorice with a kick, try the French liquor Pastis.

I feel like there's some transatlantic mis-understanding going on here. Pastis is nothing to do with licorice - it's an aniseed liquor. We're talking about the stuff that is strong and clear, and goes milky when you add water right?

I have a bottle of Ouzo, and another bottle of Pernod on my shelf, and they're deffo aniseed, not not licorice. Wikipedia tells me that Sambuca is also an aniseed drink.

In the UK, licorice is associated with Bassets Allsorts - various chunky sweets with candy inside and licorice outside.

My local healthfood shop also sells raw licorice twigs, straight from the licorice tree or bush or whatever it is. It's supposed to be the best thing for brushing your teeth with - you use the twig like a toothbrush, and the end goes all frayed and polishes your teeth. I tried it a couple of times. Nice, but the flavour was too strong for me.

I've just come back from Scandinavia, and these places, licorice sweets come with AMMONIA added. I've tried a few, and it burns the roof off your mouth and steamcleans your nostrils on the way out. That's a real man's licorice for you.

BTW ammonia is more commonly used as a toilet cleaner and general disinfectant / household cleaner.

Meh. Anice contains liquorice like components. The aguardiente in Colombia has 29% ABV anise-flavored liqueur and tastes liquoricish. It packs a good whallop on a cold, though. :)

i tend to separate the blacks from the rest...

the taste is just a bit too intense...
