Screen protectors aren't necessary, but if you don't like micro scratches or any scratches on the screen then you might as well have it on to protect it. I have the 12 Pro max since day 1 and still not a single scratch on my screen under any lighting and I do not use a screen protector.

I don't even have any noticeable scratches on my launch-day 11 Pro. Do you all keep diamonds in your pockets with it?

I said it earlier in the thread but this problem is totally removed by applying a tempered glass screen protector. I see absolutely no legitimate reason why anybody would not use one in all honesty. I can’t see any advantage to not using one .

I hate how they look, I hate how the edges feel, and having a piece of dust or lint underneath completely ruins the experience for me so I don’t use them.

They are horrible by feel, hmm it's like using a condom?

Not if applied properly. The templates they come with now make application foolproof. The edges are hidden by the case and the protector itself is only 0.2mm thick anyway. When I look at the scratches on my screen protector, I’m glad I am able to remove that and it’s not permanent damage. No second chances with a screen.

Not at all, glass is glass and it feels exactly the same whether you have one on or not.

Spigen with the tray are good mid range ones, the cheaper ones not so much from my experience.

I got my 12 on launch and the day after it fell out of my pocket while sat at my work desk and landed on my chair's legs, got a nice 2mm scratch on the screen that I don't notice anymore.

None since I use a screen protector. I could get away with not using one since I have apple care plus and I don't even use a case 100% of the time; but micro scratches on the screen genuinely bother me so I'll always use a screen protector.

The ESR one is decent with the Caudabe sheath as a combination too.
ESR is the one I bought. 3 tempered glass protectors for just over £5 was a good deal and it comes with a guide to help you get it lined up. Got a cat hair under my first attempt, but the second went on fine. Mine is paired with a clear Spigen case so you still see that Pacific Blue colour.

Use this screen protector on the 12 Pro Max. It is nice that the edges are black which when installed gives it a more seamless look. Also, it is a edge to edge screen protector.

Not so much on the screen, but the steel bands? Oh yeah. There are plenty of them and I baby this phone. Only time I take it out of the Apple Leather case, is at home. It’s almost ridiculous how easy the metal bands scratch or dent. The iPhone 12 Pro, imo, is the best looking iPhone, ever. Just wish it was more durable...

Exact same setup here. ESR with a Spigen Ultra Hybrid on Pacific Blue. Put the protector on as soon as I opened the phone and before I even turned it on for the 1st time.

I wasn’t quite that quick off the mark, courtesy of Amazon delivering late. Mine was fitted same day however. :) I didn’t really start doing much with mine until I had the case and protector on. Maybe overkill, but I always try to think of future resale value and protect my devices from scratches as much as possible.

Watch if you take the case off. The top left corner of my protector lifted. Got my last protector on now and can see two specs of dust under it.

I’ve ordered a set of Spigen protectors and another set of the ESR.

Would be so nice not to need one at all, I hate fitting them!

Weird. I take my case off all the time and never had an issue.

The spigen full screen with tray are excellent, go on perfect.

When you have a $1K+ phone, I see no reason to not invest in at least a good screen protector or case. Both is the best, but at least grab one of the two options.

It is very cheap and very effective to protect your phone in the long term and its resale value. Touching a screen protector or the screen itself is the same feeling just make sure you buy a tempered "glass" (your oled display is glass too, the comparison to condoms is absurd) not a plastic screen protector.

Some small scratches on the front screen of my 12. I have dropped it numerous times on our hardwood floor.
