Down south
I got my first pro max, and am in the process of trying to do an exchange through ATT (10/10 do NOT recommend). At any rate, I’m really considering just doing a regular 15 for the lightness factor. I considered going back to a smaller pro, but honestly, I only went pro last year because of the pros having no notch, so I don’t know if I wanna stick with that, or just get the lightest, easiest to handle phone at this point.

Just curious what others are thinking about their phones in case ATT is able to get it together and actually follow through with what their return policy states.

Last year I went to my first "max," the 14 Pro Max, after having gone with the smaller pros in prior years. While I enjoyed the larger screen for media consumption, I always found it a bit cumbersome. It didn't quite fit in the cupholder of my car, didn't lend itself to one-handed use, and just seemed heavy. I thought about going to the 15 (not pro) this year, but when I went to the Apple store to take a look, the lack of a macro function on the camera was a deal-breaker for me. Up close photos are much better with the Pro version. So I went with the 15 Pro. When I first set it up, it felt crazy small in my hand after having the Max for a year, but after just a few days I'm happy with my choice.

I’m thinking of buying the 15/15 pro since I can’t find a 15 pro max without a defect 💀🤣

My wife has the 15 and I have the 15 pro and they are both really nice. Here is what I got from comparing them.

Feel - I like the feel of the standard 15 a little better without a case. The frosted back glass feels really smooth and has slightly more grip.
Weight - I expected to feel more of a difference between the 2. Without a case and only a screen protector on both phones I really couldn’t tell much difference in weight. I thought this was strange because my 13 pro was 17gs heavier than the 15pro and I could tell a big difference between the two. The 15 is 16gs lighter than the 15pro but the difference is much smaller. I guess it has to do with the weight distribution.
Camera - both cameras are great. We were at an aquarium this weekend and we both took some outstanding pictures. We have a shared library and I honestly can’t tell a difference between the ones from my phone and the ones from hers.
Screen - this is the big kicker for me. I honestly would probably return my 15pro for the 15 if it had promotion. The choppiness of the 15 just looks terrible to me. I don’t see how Apple can get away with a 60hz screen on an $800 phone in 2023. They should have at least gone to 90hz. I know some people don’t notice a big difference with promotion so maybe not a big deal to you.
Battery - this one I really can’t compare. My wife came from a galaxy s21 so obviously she has way better battery life now. My 15pro is a little better than my 13pro so I’m fine with it.

The weight difference between the 15 and the 15 Pro is 6.02 to 6.60 ounces. The difference in weight between the 14 Pro and 15 Pro is 7.27 to 6.60 ounces.

So, going from 14 Pro to 15, would be about 1.2 ounces lighter
Going from 14 Pro to 15 Pro would be just over half an ounce lighter.

I went from 14 Pro to 15 Pro, and while I didn't think the half ounce difference would be that dramatic, I can really tell the difference and the 15 Pro feels much lighter and easier to wield.

Personal preference for sure, but I think you would find the 15 Pro much lighter feeling than the 14 Pro.

At the end, is a phone and portability always win IMO. The regular 15 is really nice on hands and in pockets. The plus and max are too big for portability and small for content in my opinion; the ipad Mini is the perfect device for this I think!

Agreed, I have the iPad Pro for at home/hotel use, the 15 regular does great for on the go. And I have zero issues going from promotion to none promotion. I scroll slow enough it’s a none issue.

I've got the regular 15 and am very happy with it. Coming from a regular 12 it has some nice improvements, brighter screen, better camera (especially the selfie camera), always-on portrait mode, Dynamic Island, better battery life, no more Lightning redundancies, same form factor.

Free from AT&T after the regular 12 trade-in including waiving the activation fee.

Which case is that ? Almost looks leather.

Well I had a mini, and found it was still too big for lounging and reading (other than books), so I thought doing a larger phone would be the best of both worlds. Perhaps the 15plus wouldn’t be quite as bad because it’s less weight, but I find the reaching to use the phone with one hand really tires my hand much more quickly. It’s nice if I can kinda prop it on myself and use two hands, but that’s just not how I wind up using my phone most of the time.

I do have an iPad Air that I use a lot at home. It works for reading in bed if I want to read actual books because I can prop it, so I have that covered now. I found the 12.9 too big for that, and the mini too small, so I sold both and merged. ;-p

Anyway I need to decide whether those few pro features are worth a little extra weight, or if I really want the lightest I can get. Lol

You must dread the new iPhone launch every year with you being so indecisive. It's gotta be rough. See ya this time next year for the next round. 😁

Hey I didn’t have trouble last year! Lol

I was really set on a bigger phone (originally planned to get the plus, which honestly may have been fine) - been planning on it for months. I just didn’t realize how much difference that little bit of weight and size would make. It’s fine if I don’t sit and use it for long, but at night, when I wanna lay there and catch up on things before I go to sleep, it’s a noticeable difference.

So yeah, I guess now I just have the desire to get the lightest phone, but not 100% sure I want to give up all the pro features.

Speaking of frosted back glass, I LOVE the back glass and colors of the 15s this year. I don't blame some people for saying it feels better than the Pros.

Which case is that ? Almost looks leather.

I needed a leather case and one with an Apple logo and found this for $20 on eBay. Its fake leather but looks just like it, has fantastic grip, will never look shabby, and is waterproof. Apple should have just launched this instead of Finewoven, no joke.

I got the max but my partner got the pink 15 and loves it. I’m a little jealous because it’s so pretty!

If I go regular 15, I’m not sure if I’ll go pink or blue. Those two are both fabulous in person. Actually I like the yellow also. The black is sharp too, but I’d want a fun color.

I bought iPhone 15 Pro Max. But regular iPhone 15 is a substantial upgrade over regular iPhone 14. It has Dynamic island, it has 48MP camera.

Let me put it this way iPhone 15 is an iPhone 14 Pro in disguise, except for Promotion display, Always on display and Stainless Steel frame.

For my second phone I am considering Rose Gold iPhone 15 or Google Pixel Solonian blue.

I got the 15 plus and at this point I think the pro line is a scam on people who just can’t help themselves
Lol, what? The Pro phones are significantly better in a lot of ways, and if you've got the budget they're pretty much a no-brainer IMO. Also, 60Hz and USB 2.0 on a 1k phone is completely ridiculous...

But yeah, you do you. :D

The 48MP camera on the regular 15 is a big upgrade, even the 2x crop (zoom) that offers looks really good (I don’t care if is not a dedicated lens, if the photo looks good, for me is enough).

I have the 14Pro and honestly, I can’t find any macro or 3x zoom photo in my gallery in the last year!. I remember taking a tone of macro the first days and I suppose I will take a ton of 5x if I had the Max, but after the novelty goes away...

I don’t read, I don’t play, I don’t use social media or watch movies on my phone, thats why for me the regular 15 is the best option, that few grams of weight makes a difference on a phone, maybe not on an iPad or mac, but on a phone YES.

If you want to go MAX; this is the year I guess because is lighter and smaller; but no mater what, is a big phone.

The plus is going to be better, but is also a big phone.

I was really hoping they were going to release product red on this one. I’m waiting to see if they introduce a new color.
