The 48MP camera on the regular 15 is a big upgrade, even the 2x crop (zoom) that offers looks really good (I don’t care if is not a dedicated lens, if the photo looks good, for me is enough).

I have the 14Pro and honestly, I can’t find any macro or 3x zoom photo in my gallery in the last year!. I remember taking a tone of macro the first days and I suppose I will take a ton of 5x if I had the Max, but after the novelty goes away...

I don’t read, I don’t play, I don’t use social media or watch movies on my phone, thats why for me the regular 15 is the best option, that few grams of weight makes a difference on a phone, maybe not on an iPad or mac, but on a phone YES.

If you want to go MAX; this is the year I guess because is lighter and smaller; but no mater what, is a big phone.

The plus is going to be better, but is also a big phone.

Oh I’m not gonna go plus at this point. I just think maybe if I would’ve gone that route, I might have been able to get used to it since it wasn’t quite as heavy. It still would’ve been bigger, but maybe less weight would have made it doable. I’m not willing to chance it now since this exchange with ATT has been a huge nightmare.

The only reason I’m even considering staying with a pro is because I want to keep this phone at least 2 years, and there will be an even bigger feature gap after the 16s come out if I have the base phone. I know that shouldn’t matter since I don’t begin to utilize all the features available, but I do think about it. They are there if I want to explore and use them.

I went with the regular 15 pro (hard to think of a 6" phone as being the small, regular model), because:
1. The feature set difference seems worth it.
2. I put my phone in my shirt pocket and the ProMax was just too big. My wife has a 14 plus so I was able to compare. Since she carries a purse, it's no issue for her to lug around and her hands are tiny anyway - she would have to two-hand a mini.
3. I didn't get dinged $30 for not using one of the big carriers. So the difference was really $170, not $200.
4. I keep my phone for ~4-5 years, so, now was the time to splurge.

I know you're thinking about the regular 15, and forums.macrumors is notorious for up-selling people, but I think the 15 pro is the better value. Especially if you can break away from your carrier (ATT).

Well I had a mini, and found it was still too big for lounging and reading (other than books), so I thought doing a larger phone would be the best of both worlds. Perhaps the 15plus wouldn’t be quite as bad because it’s less weight, but I find the reaching to use the phone with one hand really tires my hand much more quickly. It’s nice if I can kinda prop it on myself and use two hands, but that’s just not how I wind up using my phone most of the time.

I do have an iPad Air that I use a lot at home. It works for reading in bed if I want to read actual books because I can prop it, so I have that covered now. I found the 12.9 too big for that, and the mini too small, so I sold both and merged. ;-p

Anyway I need to decide whether those few pro features are worth a little extra weight, or if I really want the lightest I can get. Lol
Have you tried a Popsocket MagSafe round?

https://www.popsockets.co.uk/en-gb/...safe---round/806828.html?cgid=magsafe-grips-1

I’m using it without a case with my 15 plus and it’s a really good secure fit and easy to remove. When out for a walk at the weekend it was very useful. A bit overpriced at £29.99.

I haven’t, but I use a Loopy case, and it has a loop for your finger. I’ve used them for years and I love the way I can grip a phone with it. I like it a lot better than pop sockets.

Yeah the cost difference really isn’t much, and it’s not really a consideration. My biggest consideration is weight, and just loving the idea of the lightweight device for a change.

The regular 15 is definitely lighter than the 15 pro; by 16 grams (1/2 ounce).

I know, and it doesn’t seem like much at all, but it feels so noticeable.

The pro max really isn’t much heavier than my 14 pro, but I guess in combination with the size, it just feels a lot heavier.

The regular pro would actually be a bit lighter than my 14 pro, and I’m sure noticeably lighter than this max, so I’d probably feel a noticeable difference, but I feel like the regular 15 is not much more weight than a little SE, which is amazing to hold. ;-p

TOO. MANY. CHOICES. 🤪 Just trying to make the right one for me.

Phones are super fast nowadays, in 2 years the regular 15 will perform perfect; I played with a 12 of a friend and is as fast as my 14pro… maybe for gaming makes a difference, no idea, but for common use they will last for years!

If you want to feel a noticeable difference the regular 15 I think is the best option, the 15 Plus will be annoying after a couple of days and the regular Pro maybe the same. The camera bump makes a difference I think, I know we use the phones looking at the screen haha but for some reason the bump of the Pros bothers me 😅

I got a regular 15 in pink. I think it takes wonderful photos, and I rarely take closeups, so not having macro capability is fine for me. I enjoy the lighter weight. I also haven’t had any of the problems some people have reported for the pros, like overheating, goo coming out of the cameras, screens misaligned, etc. The only issues I’ve had are with iOS17...so I’m eagerly awaiting 17.1. I kept my last phone (XS) for 5 years, but I’ll probably only keep this one for a year or two, because I will be sick of the pink by then. I would have exchanged it for the green, but the local Apple store never had any in stock during my return window. In fact it’s hard to get any of the regular 15s there, so I assume they must be selling well.

I was originally planning to upgrade from my 11 to the 14pro as I figured I'd be able to find a deal on one after the 15 line launched. I ended up getting a regular 15 because I couldn't stand the 14pro's weight. It felt so top heavy in my hand when using one handed and I was convinced I would drop it. The standard 15 takes fantastic photos, has amazing battery life and fits perfect in my pocket. For me it was a perfect upgrade. I think the pro it nice but in reality theres alot in it that phone I'm never going to use. I think the same is true for most people.

Well, I just went from a 12 Mini to a 15 Plus, and even though the size difference is very noticeable, the weight is not bad at all. There’s obviously going to be a transition period, however I find it quite manageable - the weight helps, plus that I don’t use cases, and also because I have very long fingers lol. The battery life and the bigger screen (so much easier to read and write) makes the biggest difference to me personally. I notice all the other improvements as well - it’s snappier and the camera has obviously improved. I plan to keep this phone for maybe 5 years. 3 years is the longest I’ve used the same phone, which is the 12 Mini (still have it). Personally, I decided that the 15 Pro Max doesn’t really offer me anything substantial over the 15 Plus.

Op is not interested in the plus size

So what’s the verdict?

I’m kinda leaning towards the regular pro, but I’m still waiting on ATT to figure out exactly how they’re gonna process an exchange that is THEIR policy. They can’t seem to get a single department to be able to handle a dang phone exchange. It has now turned into a huge ordeal - it’s absurd.

My plan all along was to go with a plus, but then the camera additions on the pro max, along with the decreased weight of the max this year, enticed me to give it a shot. I think had I chosen the plus to begin with, I may have been able to make the adjustment because I’ve kinda gotten used to the size of the max, but the addition of the weight is just a bit much. Every day I start feeling like I could just keep it (since ATT is taking their time figuring out how to exchange it I HAVE had more time with it), but then I use it for a while before bed and realize it is just too heavy.

That said, I have one shot with my exchange. I know going to the smaller phone will be a safe bet. I really want the regular 15, but I do want to keep this phone for at least 2 years, and I’m afraid I’ll regret losing those few pro features I do like, so I am still trying to decide for sure.

No way you can break out of AT&T jail, Stacey?

I probably can at some point, but this crap has to be handled first for sure. I thought of doing a return and buying through Apple, but I’d probably have to be without a phone for a while.

I can’t really figure another way, but I’ll likely never purchase another phone through ATT

Hey I didn’t have trouble last year! Lol

I was really set on a bigger phone (originally planned to get the plus, which honestly may have been fine) - been planning on it for months. I just didn’t realize how much difference that little bit of weight and size would make. It’s fine if I don’t sit and use it for long, but at night, when I wanna lay there and catch up on things before I go to sleep, it’s a noticeable difference.

So yeah, I guess now I just have the desire to get the lightest phone, but not 100% sure I want to give up all the pro features.
Everyone has a difficult time deciding, thats completely normal! The perfect phone is a 6.3! :)
So I had the 15 Plus which was amazing battery, light as could be, easy on hands great screen! But returned it for a 15 PM and can really tell the difference in weight!

If I go regular 15, I’m not sure if I’ll go pink or blue. Those two are both fabulous in person. Actually I like the yellow also. The black is sharp too, but I’d want a fun color.
just be aware that the regular doesn't have macro if thats important to you..

Sounds like Telstra in Australia lol, here though if you buy from a telco they won't do anything for change of mind, you'd have to sell and buy again from apple or a retailer.

Wth how is the exchange an issue? I work for att and when people are here in store it’s not typically an issue. Shame. Have you tried going into a store versus online? corp stores should be able to handle the exchange with ease. Let me know if they can do it for ya!! It really shouldn’t be a hassle like you stated

Well they do allow returns, and I was within the window when I contacted them about the exchange. For some reason they just can’t seem to make it happen.

No kidding. The same song and dance every year and not just for iPhones! certainly does not seem to be an enjoyable time

Hope she is able to find peace with her decisions:)

Actually, that’s not true at all. Last year - no issue. The year before, I did try a mini after having my 13 pro just because I wanted to, and I planned to pass it to my granddaughter. 2020 I definitely played musical phones for a bit, but I’m saying that was because I was home all the time because of Covid (that’s my excuse anyway). Before that, I had never swapped a phone (Of course, there weren’t many options - lol).

And I’ve never been indecisive about other devices. I mean yeah I change stuff around because my needs change, but I haven’t ever returned an iPad, and I’ve literally returned TWO phones since iPhone 3G.

Not that it is anyone’s business what I do, but I really wish people wouldn’t always say that about me.
