I always buy apple care. I have used it several times in the many years I have owned apple products, so, to me, it's proven to be worth while.

I have AppleCare+ on my 7plus because it is required for IUP.

No insurance on my X. Paid cash for my X, and it’s a waste of money for people like me

I buy insurance where it’s legally required (car) or to insure against catastrophes that I can’t afford to self-insure (household contents).

AppleCare+ for the iPhone X is an additional 20% of the price of the base model. That’s ridiculous. Apple must make enormous profits on it. Do one in five AC+ customers write off their phones?

It's freaking free money.

I've only got Apple Care+ because that's what the IUP comes with. Otherwise, haven't had insurance since they made it a nightmare to claim on my 4S.

Pay two years worth of insurance, get declined even when supposedly covered. Never again!

It really is a money grab by apple.

In particular, the comment from them that device repairs outside of the screen will cost more than half the cost of the phone. It is simply not true. Im waiting for non screen repair posts from owners without applecare.

"I broke the lightening port on my iphone and it cost me $550 for apple to fix it!"

Aint going to happen.
Its a $50 repair at best.

I suspect its same for the back glass as well. Its probably in truth a $25 part with a $75 labour cost unless apple really have been monumentally stupid and its a full chassis swap out.

Apple care is scaremongering.
