I see now

You are mistaken. Here, lemme explain to you exactly what people are talking about:

The first generation iPhone could charge over a USB connection OR a FireWire connection. Your charging cord is probably USB so you never noticed a difference because both iPhones are compatible with USB charging. However, when the iPhone 3G came out, Apple removed the FireWire charging capabilities from it so people who were using FireWire cords in their cars can no longer charge their iPhone 3G with it.

This is why even some speaker accessories will not charge the iPhone... they use the FireWire interface instead of USB 2.0.

Yeah I have always used USB so thats why I neve noticed the chnage, but when I read the iphone didn't chagre in the car I walked out to my car to test my charger I hadn't used it yet for the new phone

If you like the ambient sound apps, check out Easy Relax. It's my favorite of that ilk. They also have Lite and Ultimate versions, but the regular, at $.99 is great for my needs.

I'll definitely check it out. Early on when the app store first opened I downloaded one of these types of apps but was disappointed when the loops would suddenly cut out.

I also have Garden of Zen and like the peaceful sounds it provides although the developer needs to get back in there and allow the music to play while having the screen turned off.

Had the 32gb Ipod Touch...lugged it around with me along wthe my Verizon cell. Got the 3GS on launch day for $299, ditched my Verizon cell (got out of contract) and sold the Touch for $225.00. Lovin the 3GS, not missing lugging around the Touch and a phone.

No use for iPod since I got iPhone. iPhone goes with me everywhere and settles all of my music/video/apps/phone needs. Even when I only had 4GB 2G iphone I never carried my old 30GB iPod.

Nope, who needs more gadgets in life, got iPhone sold iPod touch for $150 us.

Did similar, sold the iTouch for $250.00..my car DOES charge my iphone, but I may still get a classic just to be able to cram it full of tunes and forget about it in my glove box.

I have my iPhone with me at all tikes with exception to when I am swimming or doing some sort of water activity but water aside it never leaves my side.

we take the ipod classic in the car.... it's got movies and podcasts on it and the movies play via the plain old cheap av cable (unlike what i've read about the iphone/touch.... you need a special cable?) the cable we have it already installed neatly behind the dash, under the carpet, etc..... so why tear it all apart when we don't really have another use for the classic anyways (it was bought specifically to take in the car(

on the bike i wear my shuffle... it's small, it clips on my sports bra and i don't have to worry about my phone battery!)

I use both

I use both my iPhone and iPod Classic 120gb. I use my iPod because it holds my entire music collection and because during the school semester my commute is 4 hours to campus and back. I don't want to drain my iPhone battery by using it during my commute. I also like the fact that the iPod Classic has a scrollwheel/buttons. If it's cold or raining outside, I don't want to have to pull out my iPod or phone to be able to switch songs. besides, I use my iPhone primarily as a smartphone.
