I too have only been a reader of Mac Rumors when I purchased my iPhone on iDay. I only became a contributor when I discovered and posted that the ringtone extension change worked again with I believe update 1.1.2.

So like alot of others...the iPhone has brought me in touch with a great group of fellow users!!! :)

Well, I've had G3's back in the day and currently on an iBook G4 (don't worry, it's running leopard and I'm updating it this year) and I actually don't own an iPhone yet. But i've been scouring forums for a good few months and was directed here from another forum and I absolutely love MacRumors. I can no longer wait for an iPhone, I'd honestly kill for one now, but I have to wait (the downside of still being in high school, and likewise dealing with..more or less difficult parents.)

I have been here for awhile. Joined a bit over a year ago. However, I just wanted to say how interesting and great it is that so many people are switching over to OSX because of the iPhone. Not that it's really much different then the iPod, but seeing as I was out of the loop when the iPod came around, this is interesting to see. It really is a good idea to broaden your range.

That and the fact that frankly, we're just sick of Windows and M$' crap. Don't get me wrong, there are things that the PC side of the biz does at least as good if not better than the Mac side, but at least with the Mac there aren't nearly all the headaches.

I've been waffling over buying a Mac for the better part of 5 years now, and I kick myself to think that I've suffered through so many headaches at the hands of M$ when I could have switched back then. Oh well. I hope to be Windows free by summer or fall at the latest.

i came here after the iphone was announced. i wanted to know what people were thinking, saying, and mongering. it was great when i found out on this forum that i could just walk in to the apple store the day after iDay and get my shiny new iphone.

after my iphone daze was lifted i roamed around to the other sections and have had a wonderul time learning, helping, and discussing.

this is truly a great forum. with some exceptions the people are nice, knowledgable, and helpful.

I went searching for forums the day after I got my iTouch to find out if I made the right choice. After reading through modmyifone and this place (this forum is way better, of course), I took it back and payed the extra $100 for the iphone. I'm beyond happy that I did too. I'm still using my 4th Gen iPod in my car and honestly I like it better than I liked the touch.

As far as computers go, I'm still on Windows, but that's going to change pretty soon. My girlfriend has a macbook and I love it. I just need to read up on the different laptops and find which one would be best suited for my usage.
