5) Colourized (Turnerized) some of their classic B&W movies (they were B&W for a reason).

1) Because prior to a certain point, there were no color movies

2) Even after color stock & processing were available, a given movie may not have been worth the expense, which was the case for a couple-few decades.

Though I agree that colorization for it's own sake was pretty damn stupid.

True.. Though I still believe that Blanc, Freling, Jones, Shlesinger, Avery, Clampett, and others would crap themselves in their graves if they ever saw Bosco in colour.

I think Disney would do the same if he ever caught Steamboat Willie in colour as well.

I don't understand why you would boycott b/c they are trying to make the movie more enjoyable? I'd rather boycott walmart than boycott a movie. just my .02

+1

It's also written somewhere that they are taking their time on this and the Deathly Hallows because the actors (and Rowling) want to shoot the book in its entirety, not cutting out major pieces of it, like they had in the first 5 books. So you should be seeing the entire book in the movie, and might be split into two movies.

So why boycott without even knowing the rationale behind the delay? That's like doing something rash without knowing the reasoning behind what you're doing.

Well really it is only Cartoon Network that has censored the cartoons. You can still find most of the other ones on the DVD releases. Which is odd, since they still play "Tom and Jerry", in which is quite violent and may have some racial undertones.

It is possible to boycott more than one thing at a time!

I boycott Wal-Mart, too.

I swear this thread has already been done, anyway, I'll say in here what I said in there.

It makes sense for WB to wait it off, by releasing it in summer you get all the kids who are on summer holidays, where as in November, parents might have spent most of their money on presents already, which makes it a risky time to release.

They're a business, not your mom... They're in it to make money, not to please you, simple as that.

It also allows them to polish the film in terms of CGI and other detailed effects.

I'm guessing by the pretty poor teaser trailer they put out they've atleast completed all filming and the majority of is footage edited up, even if they did stick a pretty piss poor excuse for titling on there... seriously, turquoise water background?? what were they thinking... would've been better just to leave it black...

I was listening to MuggleCast (the podcast from the Harry Potter fan site MuggleNet) a couple of days ago and the hosts commented on a letter sent to them in regards to the three most likely reasons for the delay:

1) The ENORMOUS success of The Dark Knight this year convinced Warner Brothers to show Half-Blood Prince as a summer movie.

2) The effect of the WGA strike recently affected the production schedule for a number of WB films that could have been 2009 summer blockbusters. The strike effectively killed a planned Justice League movie that would have been in production now for 2009 summer release.

3) The legal situation in regards to the Watchmen movie could mean we might not be able to see that film in 2009.

I had a anti-Wal-Mart link on my signature because it abuses workers and such.

I hate Wal-Mart. I haven't been in there voluntarily for over two years. I agree Wal-Mart is the devil. Walmart and Exxon Mobile.. and Disney (-Pixar, naturally)

...but sorry, I've never seen any of the HP movies and doubt I will

I think they're gormless greedy twunts but I don't care enough to "boycott" them over it. If this is the sort of thing that really knots your knickers and inspires you to 'fight back' then perhaps you are missing something important from your life. :p

I used to go very very rarely... But after learning about how they work I never go there now.

Why Disney, may I ask?

Wal-Mart must have a different policy in the States then what they do have in Canada regarding their employees. My mother works at Wal-Mart and she makes a very good wage for not having anything past a high school diploma. She has been there about 6 or 7 years and really likes it because Wal-Mart is good to her.

Wal-Mart here pays an extra 50 cents an hour then minimum wage as an incentive to get employees. My mom works the night shift stocking shelves and is given an extra 1 dollar premium for this. Every 6 months she gets a raise based on her performance which is can be a maximum of 35 cents an hour. She gets a Christmas bonus which is a percentage of what she made last year (1 or 2% I don't remember) as well as her vacation on top of that.

The default benefits package provided by Wal-Mart is standard and not very good. It normally includes 80/20 for prescriptions, dentist every 6 months, eye exams every 2 years up to $150. Plus a few other bells and whistles that amount to nothing. She chooses to pay an extra $20 a month and gets their best benefit package which includes 100% coverage for prescriptions, dentist every 3 months, eye exams every year, plus life insurance.

She also has a sweet deal with Wal-Mart stocks. If she chooses (and she does) she can purchase shares in Wal-Mart and whatever she purchases, Wal-Mart will give her the same amount that she purchases up to a certain amount. So if she purchases 1 share, Wal-Mart purchases 1 for her too, giving her a total of 2.

So to be honest, I don't see what the problem with Wal-Mart is. She makes around $12 an hour and gets 40 hours a week. She even gets to work Monday to Friday because she has been there so long. Wal-Mart has been more then fair to a woman who doesn't have any education past high school. She stayed home and raised us practically be herself too.

It might be nice if they paid her $60k a year, and though I think she deserves it, it is unrealistic to ask for it because Wal-Mart is not a job requiring any degree of skill.

So the only thing I can figure is that Wal-Mart's employee practices are different in the US then what they are in Canada.

Yeah, they must have strict laws over there and strict ways of enforcing them.

If you care enough to watch a 93 min video, watch this to see how bad they are in the US.

Also, they are good to workers in Germany, too, coz of the unions that already sorted everything out with the companies they brought out... It could be the same deal in Canada, too.
