I'm a soon to be first time mac owner and am pretty much in the same situation as some of you guys. A bit of Logic composition, light programming in Xcode will be the most CPU intensive things I do (i'm a student)

I've been waiting for the refresh for a few months now and although the bump wasn't as big as I had expected, I'm still very pleased I waited out.

A Sandybridge i5 is a huge leap forward from the C2D that I would have been stuck with if I had not waited. So for me I'm going to get the base 13" and with the money that I save from not getting the high end (that I would have got if i had not waited for the update) + 15% student discount, I'm going to stick in an SSD.

That's going to leave me with a snappy as hell laptop, with a state of the art processor, faster RAM and an adequate enough graphics processor for my needs for no more than £1000.

I can't wait.

I'm just staring at the Air, Pro and 2010 Refurb. Each will be an improvement on my MB3.1 (2.2c2d, intel gma x3100) but working out bang for buck. MacBook is currently used for browsing, email, watching iplayer etc (all other videos are streamed to the 360) and playing Football Manager but have some steam games I'd like to play when i'm bored at work (L4D, HL2, Portal)...

Any ideas as I'm just staring here..? :(

I think I'll pick one up tomorrow (base model).

The screen resolution is still a bit of a dealbreaker for me. I have to think if I really want to pay 80% more for the 15" with hires antiglare since there isn´t an option for a 1440x900 on the 13". I might have to settle for the base 13" after all or maybe I´ll stick with my 15" Thinkpad for a bit longer...

What is that big deal with the screen resolution ? is it that clearly notable ? If yes, when can you differentiate it ? like i mean while watching HD movies ? or what ?

buying my fist mac. it'll be 13 low-end model. but i have to wait about month because we don't have apple store here in czech. and reseller are slow :(

Refurbished 2010 model

I was waiting for the refresh and was pretty dissapointed so I just purchased a refurbished 2.66ghz 13" 2010 pro model for $500 (32%) off. That's a huge saving %, especially for the apple refurb store. The highest % I saw before that was 20%!

So I guess I'm showing the 13" some love, even if it's not the one just announced today haha.

The 13 is ****.

Poor res.
Very poor gpu. I often font complain about Apple. But they ****ed up good on this one.

Also the low end 15 is laughable. Gpu is worse then the 330m.

No, I'll pass on this.

Samsung is coming out with a sleek design 13 with good battery. I5 sandy bridge and geforce gt545 for the same Price as a base mbp.

Gnu on that is so good. Whoever buys the 13 I feel sorry for. I mean. 1280x800 5 years in a row now. Laughable
