That makes sense. At WWDC they announce the new new iPhone and show off a tweaked/redesigned interface for OS 3.0, 'available today for devs' and a month later for the general public.

Not a bad idea. They MAY have something bigger planned for 3.0 that will make everyone say "What's a Palm Pre?" :D

Exactly. I'm hoping they've got something big up their sleeves in terms of a UI redesign. I mean, why else would they bring icon and interface designers like misecia (?) from MacThemes onboard? That, and the rumored interface changes for Snow Leopard - I can totally see Apple having something big like that planned.

On the other hand, I remember being underwhelmed by last summer's announcement, so ...

If they only fix the SMS text alignment inside the text field, I'd be happy.

Maybe they won't be releasing another beta till WWDC?

There could be some new feature that they don't want to reveal early?

You're joking, right? You actually think that the springboard is still adequate, even with dozens of apps installed? You don't particularly care if they implement some sort of notification system other than the feeble SMS pop-up they've got now? You like having a black background for your home screen? You don't see the value in having a lockscreen notification system, or an SBSettings-ish quick toggle system for stuff like 3G and wifi?

I realize that 1px offset really bothers you, but IMO there are a multitude of more urgent/valuable/pressing improvements that need to be made.

I understand what you're saying, but I would be content with no theme changes if they'd just fix that stupid text field and a few of the other graphical glitches.

I sincerely hope the people at Apple aren't as complacent as you. ;)
