I will wait and see what Google Nexus Prime is about and more importantly were is it going.

I'm expecting it to be similar to SG2 with higher resolution and button less. I'm hoping the button less part keeps the form factor smaller. Because 4.6 in it's SG2 form is big.

Sg2 does not actually have a higher resolution. It's faux doubling is misleading and its resolution is significantly worse.

They do...it's called Ice Cream Sandwich and anybody who has been following the mobile tech industry in the last 6 months knows all about it.

Ice Cream's biggest improvement seems to be face recognition. If you thought Siri was a complete waste, then you should love this one.

Which is what?...a unification of a single OS across phones and tablets? Wow, thats just amazing.

Just to name a few of the big ones:

1. Android is way more powerful than iOS but never had the fluidity and the UI experience of iOS. This will be addressed.

2. Yes, as you said it will unify the Android OS so that all devices are on a similar release cycle and upgraded.

3. Brand new API's that will make developing for the OS as easy (if not easier) than iOS. Right now, apps that are developed for both iOS and Android are almost always better on iOS. This will no longer be the case.

There are also hundreds of other updates...

I think for those of us in the "latest and greatest" camp, the pattern will be:

Hottest Android beast phone (Nexus Prime)
then
Newest generation iPhone 5
then
Hottest Android beast phone (Nexus', high-end Droids, etc.)
then
Newest generation iPhone 6
and so on...

Everyone else will either bounce around as they please or stick with their chosen ecosystem for whatever reasons.

I have decided to definitely wait to see the Nexus Prime announcement instead of pre-ordering this Friday. This phone will hopefully get me excited to spend money on a new phone.

Do you think the iPhone 4s' A5 cpu would be just as fast (if not faster) as the 1.5GHz Exynos in the Nexus Prime? According to Anandtech article the A5 was at least twice as fast as the 1.2GHz Exynos in the SGS 2.

Arent they using the exynos as the processor? and doesnt that use the mali gpu? If thats the case, it would still be considerably slower than the A5 most likely. I dont think they can just shove in a powervr chip to the SOC thats already been designed for Mali.

there are two rumors out there. the specs I showed were from Samsung's leaked roadmap that was pulled about a couple months ago.

afaik, Ice Cream Sandwich is being developed for TI OMAP processors first.

Additionally, the A5 processor is most likely clocked below 1GHz. This isn't for certain until there is a full review of it next week.

Both the A5 and TI OMAP SoC's are based from the same ARM Cortex A9 architecture. I'm quite sure that a 1.5GHz dual core processor would beat out Apple's A5 sub-1GHz SoC.

As for the the GPU, I believe the iPhone 4S will beat the Nexus Prime, as it will be using a PowerVR SGX 543MP2, which is the same as the iPad2 GPU. This isn't for certain neither, until the full teardown.

Lets also remember that the Nexus Prime's resolution is at 1280 x 720, and the iPhone 4S is at 960 x 640. A side by side benchmark would probably most likely show the iPhone 4S as the winner as the resolution is lower than the Prime.
