I bought every iPhone on release day since the iPhone 4. This year, I want a phone with a stylus so if Apple doesn’t deliver I’ll probably pick up a Note8. The 6s+, 7+ was boring and I’m not shelling over $1000 for another boring iPhone.

the only exciting thing about the note8 will be seeing if it explodes or not.

I use an iPhone 6 and I'm not planning to upgrade this time around, and if I do it'll only be in the event there's a big sale on the iPhone 7 at some point during the holidays this year. I don't need anything other than what I got for what I do.

I have an iPhone 6 and I love it, however, my phone has now decided to restart itself or just shut down randomly. It's not every day but I can only imagine it will get worse. From what I've seen, the prices are going to be ridiculous for the iPhone 8. I enjoy getting a new phone but I'm not sure how much I'm actually willing to spend.

Well I would never ever ever stand in an absurdly long line to buy something, unless my life depended on it.... but I will try the 3am order from the comfort of my bed... if I get one great, if not then I’ll wait until they are readily available...

Time to stick with Android. The 8 will not be cheap. It is not for everyone.
Price isn’t a factor at all, but yea I do like my S8+ so I think you’re right about sticking to android for now. Apple will likely keep this design for years to come so when I grow bored of Android again I’ll still pick up some iteration of the iPhone 8.

I didn't bother last year with the 7. At the time I was happy with the 6S and didn't see it as a worth while upgrade. This year it is entirely a new ball game.. Am definitely looking at options this time. Depending purely on the pricing Apple adopts on the upcoming new models. I've had other mobiles in the past and Face unlock didn't work that well (Sony Xperia Z2). So when Apple does implement this I will be curious to see how much better it is compared to other mobiles with a similar system.

Anyway I would personally like to see a bigger "big" iPhone, especially since I haven't bothered with an iPad at all. I don't have a use for one.

The battery in my 6 gave out so i upgraded to a 7. Planning on getting the "8" and selling the 7 to make up some of the price. Yes, its not the best plan money wise but I've saved for a while.

my wife 7 plus since its on IUP i will upgrade as soon as iPhone 8 is launched. and for my 7 plus i will upgrade in December.

You might have to wait a few months unless you're quick on the pre-order move.

I know I couldn't find a jet black 7+ until December.

This go around, I'm not sure what I'll do. I doubt I'll attempt to get the newest iPhone as my adventures being an early adopter have been negative.

Mod Note
I have deleted several posts from this thread as they were nothing more than bickering and insulting other users for their grammar / spelling (or quoting such posts)
For clarity, it is against the rules to correct or criticize someone else's grammar or spelling on MacRumors and if someone does that, the correct course of action is to report the post, not take matters into your own hands and attack them back

Can everyone please return to the topic of the thread and leave the bickering behind? Thanks!

Staying up until midnight to preorder isn’t a huge enough inconvenience for me to feel like life is too short. I mean I’m up that late most nights anyway.

Price will be a bigger factor for me. Will have to see what tmovikendoes this year.

Edit: it’s against the rule to correct grammar and spelling? Boy have forums come a long way...

I think if you had preordered on Day 1, the actual shipping wait time was usually shorter than Apple's estimates (under promise and over deliver). It's easier to be on the Apple Store online preorder queue rather than take a chance on retail availability.

Had my 5S 16gb for nearly 4 years.
I was all for waiting (up to last week) and was gonna get the 7s or 8 but I got such a good deal on a nearly new SE 64gb that does everything I want that it only cost £137, after selling my old phone.
Compare that to the cost of one of the new iphones.
I would have also bought some kind of insurance which would have added to the cost.

May feel a bit twitchy when the new phones are released but I'll get over it!

Sad isn't it?

Anyone else going to wait a month or so to upgrade? I'm so over being the first to get the latest and greatest iPhone. I'm very happy with my 7 Plus. If I do upgrade it won't be for a few months. I'm so over getting up in the middle of the night or standing in line just to have something on day 1. Life's too short for that crap. Apple will get my money soon enough, no need to be the first to give it to them! ;)
I'm on the 7 plus, I really hate Apple and Google's censorship of their app stores but those are the only 2 companies that have decent phones.
If there is a considerable benefit to the 8 plus then I'll wait for the sim-free version to come out, I hate being trapped to one carrier. I used to be on T-Mobile but then sprint had that free service for a year come out, I was only able to take advantage of that because I had a sim-free iPhone.

Jeez. If you ask me, I'm so over upgrading every year when there's so little incentive. I have better things to spend my money and time on than a $1,000 phone every year.

I thought about trying that Sprint deal but their service is still so hit or miss. How is it working out for you?

I have the 7 and it is a great phone with zero issues.

If the iPhone 8 is indeed a "game changer", I will hold off until the following year, simply because I presume a major form factor and technology change will come with quite a bit of "teething pain". I prefer the "early adopters" to do the testing and go with the second generation of such a device, i.e. 8S.

If the phone is positioned as a "Pro" with corresponding price tag I may also wait for that to trickle down to the next level in the following year.

Bottomline, I will hold on to my 7 until Fall 2018.
