I think it's better looking simply because the oleophobic coating on the screen does a bang-up job at keeping things nice and shiny.
I immediately noticed the weight difference too which is why I returned it and went back to an iPhone 3G. I know it doesn't sound like much but it adds up when you have to lug a lot of stuff around. And what if there were some emergency where I had just enough strength to lift a 133 g phone to my face but not a 135 g phone? Just playing the odds there.
But I will concede the 3GS is better looking. I love the way they subtlely evolved the back of it to the new muscular sculpted look.
Frank Abagnale Jr. could detect 2.8g difference in weight to detect fakes.

I try to be fairly open-minded on this site, but this is literally one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. 2 grams made you switch phones? And it's the exact same shape. It fits all the old accessories the exact same AND even at the WWDC keynote, Phil said that the 3G S retained the "same great shape" or something of the sort. You people are crazy sometimes.
You'll be weighting for a long time.Im weighting for a 1TB iPhone![]()
So many doubters on the shape, indicating that it's the slight manufacturing tolerance that cause some iPhones to take on the more streamlined shape than others, so I guess it's not the norm after all.
Three things we know for sure: it's heavier and/or more balanced in weight, has chrome lettering which some think looks better and the oleophobic coating that improves the appearance of the screen after use.
- The shape of 3G S is more streamlined, less tapered towards the edges compared to 3G. I've always thought the bulge of the 3G made it look funny.
- Heavier. Yes, heavier can denote better quality. The lighter weight of the 3G only made it feel more plasticity.
- Chrome lettering (personal opinion, of course)
- Less fingerprints thanks to the oleophobic coating. Fingerprints tend to ruin the look.
Anyone knew the word oleophobic before 3GS?
Hey, I even get the red underline for the word. LOL
Does anyone know how much weight the extra app icons add to the phone? I swear, I installed a few apps and now my phone feels twice as heavy..
i dont think this is healthy behavior
