According to https://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/22/apple-band-only-apple-watch-exchanges/:

- The new band must be within the same collection as the watch and must be an available band option for that watch face.

The black Sport band isn't an available band option for the silver aluminum face.

Tell us about it. Those so-called "Apple Specialists" also informed some members that the Sport comes with two full sets of bands and that AC+ doesn't cover the out-of-the-box band.

They are definitely misinformed. 2 days after launch day, I went to the Apple Store to put AppleCare on my watch. While the guy was ringing me up, he asked if I had heard about the band swapping program, and explained that I could exchange my band for any other Sport one. I have the Space Gray, and he obviously knew that. I asked if I would be able to get the Blue if I really wanted, and he said "of course".

I wonder, had I done it, if I would have been able to actually go through with the swap?

You do not know if they are "definitely misinformed," as you haven't actually done the swap. Remember we also had Apple employees tell us that the Sport comes with two full bands and that AC+ doesn't cover the band that comes with the Watch.

I was actually referring to the Apple Employees who are definitely misinformed, as I've received a response that completely contradicted Apple's own band swap rules. I was agreeing with you.

Good info on maybe getting a possible swap from white to black sport. I'm going to have to call them once I get my white soon.

For anyone (if there are any) that has successfully swapped out colors that weren't in their "default" casings, did you get an ETA of when you will get the band? Are they basically sending you the band and you return the other one in the same box deal?

Thanks!

Well this guy down here said he has one on the way in exchange for his green

^^This^^ I called last week and asked and they are sending me a black to swap with the green one I have. Looks Sharp!

I also just called Apple customer service and got the Apple Watch department and they said it absolutely is an option for you to trade for the black band that normally comes with the space gray.

When the description says "must be an available band option for that watch face" the "face" part I would assume isn't referring to the tonal finish but rather the watch face size. You know how some bands are only available for certain face sizes.

So if you had a stainless steel 42mm you can't get the modern buckle because even though it's in the same collection (watch) it's not available for that face because of the size.

Lucky.... I just chatted with Apple and they told me I can't because the Aluminum sport only comes with White, Pink, Green and Blue ;(

Try again I ended up having to do it over the phone but they were very accomadating. southern Charm works wonders LOL :):):):)

I was told a couple of weeks on the BSB. I have heard some folks being charged and refunded when the other one is returned. Havent seen a charge yet but will probably see it when it ships.

And there are members who were told otherwise by Apple employees.

Do the actual swap and report back to us.

I was under the impression that they obviously would swap a Blue/Green/Pink/White Sport Band that came with a Silver Aluminum Watch for a Black sport band with the in-store program, but clearly from the mixed results people are having and/or hearing about, that is not the case necessarily.

And thanks for posting those pics! I currently have the Blue sports band and actually do really love it, but also have a black band on order that will be delivering in the next 2-3 weeks that I'm also very excited to have, and glad to see some pics of the combo out in the wild- looks great.

Good news for me today my 42 white sport is getting ready for shipment, I ordered it on 4/25 after numerous mind changes on editions!

Also I spoke with a rep and they told me that they couldn't swap the white band for the sport black again. They again re-iterated that the black sport band is not bundled with any silver aluminum model so this swap wouldn't be honored. I had mentioned someone else was told different info and they claimed if a white sport was sent back to exchange that they would send the white band back with a black sport and charge them the cost of the black sport, so who knows

I have this combo also. I really like the look.

Today I used some fine sand paper to sand off the shine off the top of pin that shows through the band to better match the matte aluminum silver watch finish.

I've been wearing my white sport and just waiting for the black bands to be available at my local Apple store to wear this combo... Looks like the wait might be over.
