You replaced your phone because if you sit in the dark looking at it, you can see some light leaking through the paint?

That's just flat out silly. How on earth does that affect the use of the phone?

I wish the damn chrome apple logo on the back was like macbooks and would light up. Now that would be kewl. I wonder if there is a case or hack to accomplish that effect.

it doesn't affect the use of the phone, that's not the point. but it certainly affects my experience with it. its easy to say its a minor problem when it isn't happening to your phone. call it silly all you want, but i paid a damn good amount of money for this thing, and i don't think its right. do you feel the same about people that have cracked cases? i'm sure their phone work fine as well. gimme a break. look at the poll, 25% have this problem. i would hardly call that minor or insignificant.

i've said it before and i'll say it again, we don't deserve to spend $3-600 on a phone upfront, and thousands over 2 years, to get a unit that isn't up to specs from the get-go. its not right, its not fair, and it certainly isn't the experience i've come to expect from an apple product, and i highly doubt it's the experience they want to deliver.

as far as pics go, i'm house-sitting and don't have my real camera. my fiance's cell phone's camera sucks, and the flash on my iSight is drowning the light leak out. they'll have to wait. maybe one of the others with this issue have some pics?

i can see some light leakage, but only on full brightness and pitch dark
here is a picture I have, it really doesn't matter, its a white case, I would expect some light to be seen from the back

most of the light you can see in this picture is leaking out from the phone being placed face down on carpet, only the segmented light is light leakage

Throw a case on it and call it a night! ;)

Seriously. It amazes me what people will waste their time time whining about.

I'd like some more input on this issue, especially white iPhone owners.

Turn the lights off/get under the sheets, and check the back of your phones and see if there's any light coming out from the back of your iPhone!

Wow, I think this is the first time I've been on the receiving end of that accusation - I'm hardly an Apple apologist, you see ... Anyway, thanks for the laugh!
