I can't say that I agree with that, and again, I say this coming from a 6, which was one of the lightest iPhones. No offense, but I don't understand how anyone finds something that weights 200g tiring to hold.

The funny thing is, it's only 30g heavier than the X, and the X actually feels heavier to me because it's denser/thicker.

No offense taken. :)

Holding it one handed (like while reading news or browsing forums ) with the little finger under the bottom of the phone gets old kinda quickly for me. I used one for a while and instead went with the X. I had a 7 Plus previously.
Out of the most current batch of iPhones (7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X) the 8 Plus is the heaviest

Get a 7 Plus, you’ll be glad you did.

I had the 7plus with a 128gb drive, gave it to my wife because she takes a lot of photos. I went to the 8 plus but Apple being Apple they took away the 128 and now offered the 64 or 256. Neither suited my needs. I bought the 64gb, and have been happy with the phone for the most part.

Only thing is when I buy a new phone from the Apple store, I've had to return and replace the phone for various reasons 4 out of 5 times for my last several iPhones. The 8 plus kept losing calls and audio would fade away. Crackles etc. Replacement seemed to be fine. When I bought the 8 plus I joked with the staff at the Apple store and said why don't you just give a replacement from the get go, because I will most likely have an issue with the phone. Just shy of two weeks later I was picking up a new phone.

I don't have an 8, but I had a 7. If you are looking for a change, I would wait. The 8 is the same as the 7, which was the same as the 6. The only thing you are getting are speed and camera upgrades.
Couldn't be more incorrect. The screen on the 8Plus is night and day from the 6, the 6 doesn't even have 3D Touch. True-tone and colors are noticeably different.

I also use voice to text sometimes. My phone is never too big to type on. The non-Plus models are too small to type on.

But everyone is different!
Like sometimes I'm walking my dog, and trying to type one handed and holding the leash becomes an issue. So I just do a voice message and that solves the problem.

I don't know why I'm not really considering the X. It's a nice phone but I don't feel ready for the whole screen and face ID. My coworker has it and I've played with it. It's nice so maybe I need to play with it some more. The size may be what I'm looking for but I don't know. Just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe because it's first generation. But I don't think that's a big deal. The new one that comes out will probably just be internal changes.
Yah I agree. I mean when the first Samsung all screen phones I was like, ehhh, its alright. So when its on the iphone I though its "nice".

I'm thinking my phone obsession is over. I'm all about lusting into drones right now. If iphone XX is able to fly 4 miles I'm gonna piss myself. I'll probably line up 15 days before launch. Screw work!

Personally, I really don’t like True Tone. Gives everything a yellow tint!
I haven’t notice any difference in colour between my 8 Plus and my 6 to be honest, but that’s not a complaint. Both displays are fine.

I agree I really like truetone. Its hard to describe I would say, you know how white paper isn't always white. It has different tones depending on the lighting. The fact the iphone 8 can mimic that is super cool! Do android phones have truetone?
Its not a feature that you can easily sell on a 30 second commercial.

I can't look at a non-truetone display now. I always hated warm displays. I always looked for the coolest color possible. Now, looking at my Air 2 hurts my eyes; or if I turn off TrueTone. Its amazing what 4 months of adaption does.

Definitely not something that you can sell in a commercial, but once you got it, you don't want to give it up. Turn TrueTone off on your phone, after about 15 seconds you will be like, "no, must turn back on".

just notice it turns off and back on when you go on photos recently.

I currently have a 6 that I have had since it was first released September 2014. I am ready for a change.
The IPhone 7 & 8 doesn't really do it for me and I do not have interest in the X, but am leaning more and more towards the 8 plus.
I am concerned that I will hate the size. I did have a 6 Plus for a month and I just think I wasn't ready at the time for a bigger phone. I recently played it one and it fit in my pocket and I was able to text with one hand. Maybe a little bit of a stretch trying to get the other side of the keyboard, but it wasn't that bad. I am excited for a bigger and better battery and I think the camera on the 8 plus is very good.

I see a lot of the threads on the forum are about the X, so just wanted to hear from the 8 plus owners. From what I have read, there is not much of a difference between the 7+ and 8+, but coming from a regular 6, I am expecting that I will notice a lot of different things!
Physically, you'll notice a lot. Lots of landscape on the screen. It's great if you play a lot of games or read a lot of books on your phone. The screen is brighter, crisper, clearer. The processor is faster. Other than that, day to day function, you really won't notice a difference.

I thought I would notice downsizing from Huawei Mate 9’s 5.9” 16:9 screen to the 5.5” 8 Plus, but it’s actually not that noticeable, and get this, I actually like the 8 Plus screen over the Huawei! Both phones are very similar in dimensions.

One noticeable difference is that scrolling in the Mate 9’s Google Chrome just flies, seems much faster than Chrome on the 8 Plus, so not sure if it’s the software or hardware. Safari scrolling is slow by Chrome standards imo, so I don’t use Safari.

With 8 Plus battery degradation, after a year I would still be content with the all day battery life. On the smaller 8, I may find myself struggling to get by my day without having to recharge mid day. I do love the smaller 8 form factor, but went with the 8 Plus mainly for battery and larger display.

There are a lot of incremental features that have been improved from an iPhone 6 to the iPhone 8, but the display has Refined nicely over the years. Its A lot of the same familiarity, but better and much improved with additions like the stereo speakers, 3DTouch, improved Touch ID, etc.

Even a small upgrade from 6 to 6s brings a lot of changes. You get 3D touch, faster Touch ID, 2gb RAM, 12mp rear and 5mp front camera and of course faster processor. You are definitely in need of an upgrade, you are missing on lot of tech here already.

I upgraded from 6s to 8+ and I am loving it. Although its a little bigger/heavier compared to 6s and can't really use it with one hand but everything fades away when I see the camera quality and specially the portrait mode.

I suggest you go for 8+ which comes with upgraded space, 12mp dual & 7mp front camera, 3gb RAM and upgraded processor including M11 Motion co-processor, all of this makes it unbelievably faster than 6

Agreed 100 percent! At first with True Tone, I was like...”ok this really doesn’t make a difference.” But once you get used to it for a week and turn it off, it’s night and day. The screen is so much more blue and “artificial-looking” with True Tone turned off. You have to keep it on now...no going back! I’m sure my eyes thank me in the long run as well!

Get the 8 Plus for the best battery life of any iPhone available and the larger screen over the 6...you won’t regret it! I’d rather have a larger phone with better features.

I got the 8+ on launch day to replace my 6S because I wanted a better camera. As @GomerBoy and others have noted, the display and the battery life are huge pluses (pun!).

The 8+ is a fully refined design, and for me, using it has been pure pleasure.

I use a pop socket with my 8 + and am able to use it one handed for the most part. Just a thought

Yeah, that is an option. My fiancé has one and she loves it!

I thankfully haven't had any issues with my 6. At least, I cant remember having to get a new one. I think my dad had to after a while, but besides that, been lucky. If I go with the plus, I feel like the 64GB will have to do. 256 is just insane. I would never need that much space. I wish they had 128GB for it.

You nailed it. That's my concern. it is the little things I do and want to use my phone at the same time.
- Walking the dog
- Carrying groceries
- Multi tasking with the phone

That's when a pop socket can come in handy, but I don't know if I would want that. I do not want to struggle while using the phone. At same time, I think I would eventually adjust to it.

I have the 8 Plus Gold - Nice Phone!

I would pay 1000+ for a iPhone Plus in 2018 with thinner bezels, bigger battery. Simples.

Hate the iphone X. Looks like a toy and not a serious device imo. Dont like Face ID or gestures.

For someone who is "ready for a change", I don't think the differences are enough.

When I say "change", I mean size, battery, camera. faster etc. I don't know if that qualifies, but I just want to try something different.

Does anyone do the Apple Upgrade Program? I much rather just have one phone that last me several years, but the only reason I have thought about it is if I truly hate the plus size (assuming I get it) and it is past the 14 day return window, then after a year, I can swap it for a different phone and if I like that one, I just pay it off and keep it. Or, if I disliked the size, I could resell it but do you think I would be able to get close to what I paid after maybe... 2 months of using it and it would hopefully be in perfect condition? At that point, I would just go with the 8 or just go back to my 6 and see what Apple does in 2019.

Oh okay, then yea the 8 Plus is a great option, although I prefer the X. I do an annual upgrade through Verizon, you can return, buy it out if you want, or upgrade the next year.

I remember when I had the option of the 6 or 6+ and I chose the 6; the woman in line next to me getting the plus fussed at me for not going with the bigger one, which I wound up doing within a couple of months. I have since had the 7+ and now the 8+ (yes, I know - not really worth the upgrade, so people said, but I LOVE this form factor and since I don’t know what 2018 holds, I decided to upgrade, and I haven’t been disappointed).

I’m small with small hands, and I cannot imagine going back to a smaller phone. It’s one reason why I didn’t go for the X. I just love this overall size.

That stinks! Do you plan on getting a new 8+?

Will definitely have a case for it!!

Just a quick update - popped into the Apple store and explained the problem. We took it out and it immediately found a load of bluetooth devices which was really weird and hugely annoying. The chap in there swopped it out anyway. I've just sorted the new one and it seems now to pick up bluetooth devices without a problem. With the new one - I was careful not to update to the very latest iOS (11.2.5?) when prompted while restoring from my back up using iTunes (something I did last time). Mine is running the iOS it came with. Can't say that's what caused it so again YMMV but I have my suspicions.

I’ve had my 8+ since launch day. Couldn’t be happier, coming from an iPhone 6s. It has pretty much all the internals of the X. It is a little big in the pocket mostly because I have an otterbox defender case on it due to the work I do. I’d definitely recommend it and not to mention you can probably get a great deal on it. I know a lot of stores including frys electronics offer an in store gift card to Verizon and at&t customers.

I went from a 6 to an 8 Plus.
I love it! I realize now that I should have been using a Plus all along. It doesn’t even feel big to me anymore, just normal.
I bought my iPhone 6 on launch day and then an 8 plus on launch. Wow! It's an amazing upgrade.

OP, I don't think you'll regret it if you upgrade now, especially if you like to take photos—the camera and display are fantastic. The size was really easy to get used to and you can always use the double-tap on the home button if you can't reach the top, and one-handed keyboard to bring the keys over.

Of course, you can buy it, test it for two weeks, and return it if it's not for you.
