Just a quick update - popped into the Apple store and explained the problem. We took it out and it immediately found a load of bluetooth devices which was really weird and hugely annoying. The chap in there swopped it out anyway. I've just sorted the new one and it seems now to pick up bluetooth devices without a problem. With the new one - I was careful not to update to the very latest iOS (11.2.5?) when prompted while restoring from my back up using iTunes (something I did last time). Mine is running the iOS it came with. Can't say that's what caused it so again YMMV but I have my suspicions.

Glad you got it taken care of! Yeah, this IOS 11 needs to be fixed. I am hoping that by the time I upgrade in June, they will have ironed out a lot of these bugs. I do not plan on getting 11 on my 6 due to all the issues.

I bought my iPhone 6 on launch day and then an 8 plus on launch. Wow! It's an amazing upgrade.

OP, I don't think you'll regret it if you upgrade now, especially if you like to take photos—the camera and display are fantastic. The size was really easy to get used to and you can always use the double-tap on the home button if you can't reach the top, and one-handed keyboard to bring the keys over.

Of course, you can buy it, test it for two weeks, and return it if it's not for you.

Thanks!! I am not a photographer by any means, but my fiance and I are moving out West, getting married and starting school, so i will be great to have a great camera to take plenty of pictures while experiencing a new location, school, adventures and such!

Oh okay, then yea the 8 Plus is a great option, although I prefer the X. I do an annual upgrade through Verizon, you can return, buy it out if you want, or upgrade the next year.
I have Verizon as well...what’s the cheapest way to upgrade to a new phone every year? I’ve always been curious about that. What’s my best option...I am already grandfathered into a really great plan so I don’t want to lose that.

Just using their yearly upgrade plan has been great for me. I preorder easily, receive my phone on launch day, the X cost me about $41 per month on top of my plan. Upgrade every year the same way. You end up spending about half the cost of the phone each year.

Had a 7+ before and got the 8+ (yet had to go through 5 returns to get one that wasn't scuffed or had several dead pixels - never had that before).

I was debating on whether it was actually a good deal as I usually stick to my phones for 2 years (iP5 -> iP6 -> iP7+), but the apparent better battery life and camera improvements were - as those are the most important factors for me - good upgrades over the 7+. After using the phone for a month now I can safely say that the 8+ has far superior battery life in my use case (I got a new 7+ replacement about in November so the battery was new) and is therefor comparable. I got about 7-9 hours on the 7+ and can now easily reach 10 hours with the same use cases. The camera has also made some good improvements. Nothing ground-braking, but the 8+ photos are definitely noticeable on my 5K iMac. In short the dynamic range is now amazing (Auto HDR is GREAT!), the stock camera app doesn't suffer from the washed out watercolour effects as much as the 7+ and also find, that the HEIF pictures on the 8+ are much better than on the 7+ (did some side by side tests), the colours are more accurate than on the 7+. I stuck with JPEG on the 7+, but no reason to on the 8+. Maybe there were some improvements hidden in iOS somewhere, who knows. My favourite iPhone camera of all was always the 6. It didn't have as many megapixels as other cameras, but the colour filter and pixel size made the pictures nice and pleasing to this day. The 7+ took quite a dip in overall quality. I feel like that's been restored with the 8+, together with the benefit of the second lens, 4K 60 etc.

On a side note: I always had problems whilst geocaching with the 7+ due to wonky GPS issues (Intel modem?), but the 8+ locks in straight away. No problem. This isn't measurable, but I also feel like the phone uses less power on my daily train commute through many spotty patches of LTE coverage. The 7+ used to sometimes heat up, even when having the screen off. The 8+ just zaps in and out of mobile towers and feel like the overall speed has improved.

For me I'll be sticking with the 8+ for the next two years and I'm also glad I have one of the current phones with the "classic" form and UX factor.

No one mentioned the awesome speakers on the 8+? Much better bass and range than the speakers on my wife’s 7+ and a whole other league over the 6. Considering for the already-mentioned improvements over the 6/6+, this phone is solid despite crap software and a tired design.

I had an iPhone 6 and upgraded to the 8+.
I am very pleased with it. It is larger, but you have the option of compressing the keyboard to either the left or right side for one handed typing. And the larger screen is easier to read, edit etc.
The glass back makes it heavier, but this doesn't trouble me. Strongly advise getting a case for friction.
I chose the 8+ over earlier models because of the camera. I really like the advanced camera features.
An unexpected bonus is the quality of the phone connection is MUCH better. My old phone dropped calls frequently, but this one hardly ever does.

I had the 7 because I thought the + was too big. I have since switched to the 8+ and am glad I did. The phone is not too big (a little smaller would be better) but the added screen real estate is what I need. I passed on the X due it it's added cost and availability, but it might be the better option for me.

I played was playing around with my co-workers X today. Most just holding it and playing with the camera. I am a little torn. It is a tad bit smaller and just about the perfect size, but I am not sure if I am ready/want Face ID, no home button. I do want something different, but not sure if that is the X. This isn't an easy decision! haha.. It is $200 more than the 8+, which isn't terrible but it overall, it is a lot! For what I am looking for (battery, screen, camera), I don't know if the X is what I would need, but it is a better size than the 8+. Just not sure if that is enough to go with the X instead.

The 8 Plus is the perfect upgrade from a 6, especially with everything you said you wanted...bigger screen, longer battery, and better camera! The 8 Plus has it all and then some nice surprises!

For example, I never thought I would take advantage of wireless charging, but I got a wireless charger for Christmas and now it sits in my night stand. It is super convenient not having to find the cord and plug it into the phone in the dark!

Do I regret got getting an X? Not really no...after all, it’s a first generation device and will be much improved on in 2 years when I’m ready to upgrade again. Also, the X really has a smaller screen than the 8 Plus because it is not as wide and the notch just seems weird to me.

Very happy with my first plus sized iPhone...I should have went with the 6 Plus to begin with.

I went from a 6 (when it was released) to an 8+ couple of months ago and I'm very pleased with the speed and bigger screen size.

3D Touch takes a little getting used to, but I can see how efficient / quick it is as an UI option.
The most impressive thing to me is the speed of the processor - if you download / update an app, seeing it install so fast is amazing (yes, it's rather juvenile to notice that, I know...)
The 6 was getting long in the tooth - that entire battery throttling nonsense didn't help either..

Good camera, good screen, but iOS 11 sucks - it needs a lot of optimization and clean up, etc., but that's the best platform there is...
Even though they treat the 8/8+ as a red headed stepchild in comparison to the X (even though the cost difference works out to be $100 or so)

I had the 7plus with a 128gb drive, gave it to my wife because she takes a lot of photos. I went to the 8 plus but Apple being Apple they took away the 128 and now offered the 64 or 256. Neither suited my needs. I bought the 64gb, and have been happy with the phone for the most part.

This really annoyed me as well, 128gb should be an option on the 8+ and is what pushed me to get a 7+ recently. In all fairness with the price now of memory 128GB should be the base model for a Apple flagship device, I think this is a pretty lame move on Apples part IMHO.

The stereo speakers are one of the best features in my opinion that was introduce on the iPhone 7 and most don't known that the stereo speakers were increased in volume by 25% over the iPhone 7. So they are actually louder with the iPhone 8.

The stereo speakers are awesome, but sometimes they crackle, especially when you are typing with them playing in the background, which is annoying! That’s my only gripe about the 8 Plus. There may be a fix coming...aparently Apple has fixed this in 11.3.

It seems the crackling is usually at maxed volume or at high levels. Hopefully 11.3 rectifies it. But even for speaker calls, I can leave my phone across the room and hear the other individual loud and clear with the stereo speakers.

Loving my 8+ so far having been on Android since the 6S Plus and going through quite a few phones (S7 Edge, Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, Galaxy S8+ and the Note 8 etc)

I love to faff; but the 8+ just works for everything I want and I went for the 256GB version, will never run out of room for music now :)

Suits my Apple ecosystem too really; so made sense to step back into iOS

My brother has the X and it doesn't do it for me, felt too small in my shovel-like hands and didn't like the screen design, plus I want Touch ID, so the 8+ was the perfect balance

I currently have a 6 that I have had since it was first released September 2014. I am ready for a change.
The IPhone 7 & 8 doesn't really do it for me and I do not have interest in the X, but am leaning more and more towards the 8 plus.
I am concerned that I will hate the size. I did have a 6 Plus for a month and I just think I wasn't ready at the time for a bigger phone. I recently played it one and it fit in my pocket and I was able to text with one hand. Maybe a little bit of a stretch trying to get the other side of the keyboard, but it wasn't that bad. I am excited for a bigger and better battery and I think the camera on the 8 plus is very good.

I see a lot of the threads on the forum are about the X, so just wanted to hear from the 8 plus owners. From what I have read, there is not much of a difference between the 7+ and 8+, but coming from a regular 6, I am expecting that I will notice a lot of different things!

I have never owned any of the 'Plus' models of the iPhone...

Started with the 3G, then jumped to the 4, then 5, then 6, then 7 and now the 8+.

Yea, I was a little apprehensive about jumping to a large phone, but jumping to just the iPhone 8 from the 7, did not feel like a big enough jump, so took the plunge and went to the 8+ and so glad I did!!! I would never go back now!!

The extra size is great (when I look at my wife's 7, it looks tiny!!) and I can still use the phone one handed (I have always been a one handed user). The ONLY time I sometimes get an issue with the size is when wearing denim jeans. I always keep my phone in the front left pockets of trousers and these are fine, however, with denim jeans, the front pockets are a little more shallow so the 8+ doesn't really fit in all the way, so when I sit down, I have to swivel the phone to the side part of the pocket so I can sit without fear that I might bend the phone if it was kept at the front. That probably makes no sense but I know what I mean!! :p

I'm sure you'll love the 8+ although, I do love the form factor of the iPhone X so will need to decide in September (I took the 8+ on the iPhone Upgrade Program) if I keep it or upgrade to the X (I really don't think I'll be interested in the rumoured iPhone X Plus though)?!

Still using my launch day iPhone 6. Still runs pretty decently. Even with iOS 11. (No, really!)

But my middle aged eyes are probably going to like gazing at a bigger screen. So am looking at the iPhone 8+. Glad to hear that the keyboard is good on those devices -- since I like to send a lot of email/texts using my iPhone.

For me it is either going with the iPhone 8+, or possibly waiting until September. Still going back and forth with that one.

Awesome!! The only thing holding me back is I love the size of the X. It is a drop smaller than the 8+. But besides the size (which is a big deal), the X doesn't appeal to me.

Do you like the Iphone Upgrade Program? I have thought about doing that since it can be my back-up in case I hate whichever phone I get. Maybe you know this answer. If I do the program, can I pay off the 12 months at once? When I sign up, a user pays XX amount each month for 12 months and after the year is up, they can trade it in. So if I get the phone, can I just pay for the 12 months up front, and then trade it in after a year (unless I pay off the rest and just keep it)? I much rather have one less bill to worry about and pay the 12 months off from the start.

...I don't really see any benefit to paying it all up front and then waiting for the year to finish in order to upgrade, but perhaps, another user, can answer your question (I'm not sure myself as this is the first time I have been on the program).

Let's say the price for the 1 year is $500. I rather pay it off $500 and just have one less bill to pay during the year. I am starting grad school, so I rather have one less bill being emailed to me over the course of the year. Only reason I am considering the upgrade program is in case I dislike whichever phone I get. That may not make sense and I may misunderstand how it works, but my concern is just not liking whichever phone I pick. So the upgrade program would help not spend as much and be able to swap it out if I don't like it after a year.

As I understand it, you can trade in your existing phone after 12 payments. Not sure about trying to pay all 12 at once though, but you could pay the remaining at any time. I bought into it when I got the 7 and I am glad I did. I switched to the 8+ after 11 months.

The 6.1 may be a little too big. It would be bigger than the plus right?

I start grad school this summer so I am upgrading my 2008 MacBook to a MacBook Pro and upgrading my IPhone 6. Just not sure to what. I could wait another year or so but I am pretty bored with this phone. Battery isn't great (and I got a new battery last March), it freezes when message notification pops up so I cant click on that or swipe down, I just swipe up and go to Messenger App and occasionally freezes on the home screen so I have to lock the phone to get it back. I am in that "Grad School. New Me" mode. Upgrade and spend the $ (while I have it) before my life becomes school for the next 2.5 years. I am sure I could wait, but ideally, rather do it before. Have the phone through school with hopefully no issues and maybe upgrade in 3-4 years.

For comparison only, the Samsung S8+ is 6.2”.
Higher pixel density, lighter, very close to iPhone 8+ in size.
If Apple goes with LCD and only top 6.4” gets OLED not sure.

You need something though with issues your phone has.
And you’ve done full erase/reset DFU?

I found the 8 to be too small and downright tiny. I had the 6S Plus, two of them, and was excellent device. And, they are on the Apple Special Refurbished page. They are like new. $500

https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/iphone/iphone_6s_plus

I’m on the upgrade program. Don’t think you can pay it off like that. The whole point of the upgrade program is so that people keep buying Apple phones while not needing to pay upfront.
