The plan, with 1 smartphone and 6GB is $120. The same service with the unlimited plan is $120. Don't forget the $80 covers unlimited voice and text services - same as the $90/mo plan under the old system.

I pay $80 a month for unlimited data, 450 minutes (I never go over 50) and 1000 messages. I'm much more data-centric than voice/messaging. Switching plans makes no sense for me.

and the price argument goes out the window if you use 20 gigs or more a month, in that case you get your costs back after 2 months on unlimited vs tiered data.

Not if u have to pay full price x 5 lines just to keep unlimited.
You are giving up $400 plus subsidy per line. One line or two lines is ok. But 5 lines and giving up $2000 in subsidies every 20 months.

Think about that $2000 in subsidies over 5 lines.

Most (I say most) working adults or even college kids have access to wifi most of the time.

No one needs to be streaming pandora 6-8 hours everyday on the job. No matter what your profession.

VZW has subsidized my upgrades on the same line for the past 2 upgrades. I even asked then to switch me to the share everything plan and they advised me not to because I'd save money on my current family plan and they'd let me keep my unlimited data on two of the 4 lines on the plan.

This was via the non-commissioned customer service phone support by the way. I doubt the retail stores have the ability to extend such a courtesy repeatedly.

Iif you have a single line it makes sense to purchase at full retail. I assume most here on VZW only have a single line.

When you have 4+ lines then it's another story.

If you look at where my conversation originally started - I was referring to someone who was talking about keeping their data under 5GB. Anyways - I am aware that each person will have their own usage and situation. I kept my unlimited plan as well.
