Most are mp3 256 KB and up. Many Audible.com audiobooks as well. Slowly encoding my 2000+ vinyl LP and singles collection. Yes, I am a music junkie.

As a technical curiosity aside: how do you rip vinyl?

28,657 91.3 days, 130.6 GB on my Windows PC. Got my first Mac last night, Can't go that large on it since I only have 160GB total.

On a funny note, got my daughter an iPod for her B-day a month ago. When I brought home the iMac, she said "Dad, what's that? A big iPod?" Thought that was funny, and somewhat true for what I'm using it for. Although, after just a day of use, I find myself using it more than my PC.

That's from the playlist I listen to(it's a big one) I actually have 3.3 GB, but those songs are crappy:cool: .

To those of you with 100-200GB libraries - do you find you listen to a lot of your music, or does it just sit there? I keep deleting songs that I never listen to anymore, keeping my library at about 20 Gigs. But then again, I only have a 100 gig hard drive.

Well, of course a lot of it sits around (I just hit 10,000 myself, almost 60GB), but it's about having it, in case you want to listen to something. I might not get the urge to listen to Shadowfax for several months, but when I do, I sure am glad I have it at hand. Obviously, new stuff or things you're REALLY in love with get played a lot. But it's good to have selection and choice for when you want something different.

How many people with large collections have them NOT on the main hard drive of their primary computer?

I at the moment only have my PB, and with my music collection bordering on 32GB (of my 80GB HDD) I think it is time to move it to my external hard drive?

Whilst I was keen to keep it all on my PB, as I use AirTunes at home, I think my PB (with currently 8GB free HDD) might benefit from the freeing up of space.

Then I face the dilemna of how to play all my music at home... might have to buy another computer so that my external hard drive can be plugged into something to allow me to keep using AirTunes?

10910 songs, 26.6 days, 53.07 GB

for me.
